Sigh. Why can't they get it right?
Comments (10)i dont understand the frustration ... if the seller does not wish to make the buyer happy .. then ... as you note ... cancel the order ... i have never had a problem in this regard ... because i insist on them sending dormant plants ... when my garden is still dormant.. and i make them understand that i am well aware that the plant they send will look dead ... and in fact might be.. since the seller can not verify it will come out of dormancy ... so you are increasing their risk of loss ... if you then require replacement .... in effect you probably have to waive your warranty if you wish that they do this ... but any good nurseryman can tell a dead dormant plant.. from a healthy one ... regardless.. who needs to argue with idiots.. if they cant make you happy.. spend your money elsewhere ... this is all complicated by hosta ... if the seller sends leafed out plants ... but i dont think you are referring to that ... especially if you southern folk who are ordering from the great white northern hosta farms ... you will be in summer before ours even break ground ... one thing that took me about 2 decades to see the light on is this: YA KNOW ... you dont have to plant it in the garden when you get it .... pot them up.. and plant them at the next PROPER PLANTING TIME ... if they will struggle in the earth ... and that would be fall ... by doing this.. i found i can buy all summer long.. and HOLD THEM until proper planting time in fall ... this is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT when dealing with trees and conifers ... you just do NOT plant them in summer ok.. my afternoon coffee just kicked in.. and i dont even know if i made my point.. or what .. and i dont care anymore .... i have to hit send .... and i have to go run around the house for 10 mins .. lol ... ken...See MoreWhy can't we just pupate, too?
Comments (1)I do too, TW! However, I am TRYING to get into this winter sowing thing. I need to get some soil, and start next weekend sowing some seeds. I have so many, I don't know if I'll get them all planted, but I'm going to give it the old college try. What kind of sphinxes do you have pupating? Comments (8)An interesting observation. Though an occasional visitor only, one of the reasons I return to this forum (and other Gardenweb forums) is the general upscale level of maturity on it, likely combined with intelligent moderation. There are the usual veteran members who post good advice and try to help folks out. I used to frequent many, many forums only to watch then descend into complete (insert negative connotation here) matches, and then gave up completely because of what a pointless exercise it had become. I think that (besides the state of the world in general), the whole computer demographic has changed somewhat with the computer becoming much more of an "appliance". Therefore expectations are somewhat changed from what they used to be. (I can make that statement based on what I'm seeing as a service tech on the job.) Fortunately I work with some very qualified people who are much more likely to explain why they will or will not agree with you, rather than get into a yelling match. Hopefully this concept will prevail here and the trend you mention is only a minor aberration....See MoreJust another reason why I love my job (pic)

His Mom was just the best and so appreciative of us making over him so...I fixed him up a little ditty bag of fruit and goodies when he left and you woulda thought I had given him a new toy...His Mom and I chatted lots by email yesterday and she has bracelets with his website on them so I'll be wearing it soon... He beats any celebrity I've ever met...I'll be praying for good health for this little guy for the rest of my life... Lisa...he's had his surgeries in Baltimore, The Shriners Hospital and now he's seeing a world reknown Orthopedic guy in Palm Beach...I sure hope we're cutting them a break on flights but I don't know......See Morebus_driver
