create an association

I received an e-mail from our strata manager that I wanted to open but it said 'this file does not have a program asociated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel'. I went into the control panel but could not find where I was to create an association.
Has any one got an suggestions as I will be getting an e-mail from this person at least once a month and would really like to be able to open it.

You probably need to contact the sender first for more info if your other emails from elsewhere work ok.
I've never tried making changes in that area but the tutorial seems fairly clear.
Hope someone with more knowledge of the subject can help.

Is this the email itself or an attachment you are unable to read?

If it is an attachment what is the 3 letter suffix, those 3 letters at the end of the file name after the . (dot)?

Cajun Person, Tnx. for the response. I did the restore and it cleared it up for me. The problem started with downloading updates. All failed. AR is way too much of a resource hog and is terribly difficult to remove if so desired. Stick with Foxit. During the installation you will be asked if you want Foxit to be the default for .pdf files. Approve the request. Be aware of the toolbar offer. Don't worry about the disclaimer that some functions may not work without the installation of the toolbar. Does your sister have Hotmail as her Default mail program? I couldn't send from or use the "Contact us" until I made a Default mail on my laptop as I was just using webmails as is.

Why would your manager send an email that you couldn't open. Something smells fishy to me. Or there is more to the story.
