I'm using IE7 and when I went to Hotmail today I noticed the change. I too did not have the scroll bars showing but they are there. When I used the maximize button to restore down the screen the scroll bars were there. What I did in IE7 was to go to View... Text Size... and changed the size from medium to larger. The scroll bar then showed up on the right side.

I have four Hotmail accounts so I checked them this morning here at work. Two have been converted and their appearance is just fine. Two remain in their previous presentation so it must be a revolving upgrade.

mine has not changed but I am with Verizon fios and I know they had said mine was not able to change due to that fact so I don't know if or when it will, which suits me fine I like it as it is, it has changed the look of my personal msn page and the look of the sign in area, that happened a week or so ago.

Thanks, Bob, but I don't use IE. I use Firefox and can't use your suggestion. I checked it again this morning, and I still don't have the scroll bars, so, after almost nine years, Hotmail is useless to me. I sent MS feedback, but I don't expect to hear from them. I never have.

My hotmail was just updated with the new look. I use firefox. When I enlarge the text I have a horizontal scroll bar but have to use the mouse wheel to scroll vertically.

OK I'm home now on my Vista system. Now if this makes sense:

On IE7 when viewing the Inbox and using ctrl-thumb wheel the sliders appear in the smallest presentations and the largest presentations. There are three middle presentations where no sliders appear. The e-mails themselves show sliders in all presentations.

On FF when viewing the Inbox and using ctrl-thumb wheel or ctrl- or ctrl+ the sliders appear only in the largest presentations. The e-mails themselves show sliders in all presentations except the smallest presentations.

One thing I found odd was that when I clicked on my Contacts List, I get a scroll bar on the right side, so I can do down the list. But, I still can't get one so I can get to the text box to send an e-mail nor can I get one at any time at the bottom. I'm stumped. :o( I get both scroll bars on this site just fine.

I sure don't like the new Hotmail either, though there are no 'real' problems for me.

For those of you who cannot use it, as is, you might try Windows Live Mail until you come up with a better solution.

It does not say it on the page linked above, but I think I read somewhere that it will then delete the emails from the Hotmail site...something I would not welcome, due to crashing every so often.

I got changed this morning too and DON'T like it!
I don't like that a large add is across the top, dropping my mail down too low.

Glad I DL'd Windows Live Mail and have been using that for over a year now and only check the regular HotMail once in awhile as it is accessed from Windows Live Mail and no need to go there.
Windows Live is more like OutLook Express.

I use Hotmail in the classic version and for one do not see any big change in the "new" Hotmail. The presentation is softer and that's about it. No big ads just the banner ad as usual.

Mine showed up today and its awful. Having some of the same size issues as OP, plus sometimes inbox doesn't load at all.

And the contacts are now on 2 pages so sending something to "Aunt Annie" and "Uncle Zeke" takes waiting for one page to load, then the next and even with cable they are slow. I used to have the classic view too but can't even find that option any longer to see if its been changed. Sandy

Sandy, there is no longer any choice offered. MS says they have combined the Classic and the new Windows Live to make one new Hotmail. They plan on making more changes in the coming months. Hotmail is already ruined for me, so I can only hope one of the future changes will give me my scroll bars back!

that is just sad that they feel the need to change things, I was happy as is and luckily mine still is but seeing everyone come in daily saying theirs just changed has me worried.
I have other email addys but my hotmail has been my long term. I would hate to have to do a full change.

You might look at gmx.com I have an addy there and they have a function that will fetch other email and hotmail is one that it says it will fetch so perhaps you could use it to view your hotmail.

I view mine on my linux box through my msn page have you tried setting up one of those and using it as your hotmail source? go to msn.com and choose to create a mymsn page you will log into it using your hotmail user name and password, you can set it up with your fave news sites or websites and add content to it but on that page will be the ability to click on Inbox and bring up your hotmail, it is different than going directly to hotmail.com and looks different. Worth a try?? I just saved that link to my bookmarks bar.

Mine changed last night, but happily for me, none of the issues you folks are having. Deew, have you tried it with IE?

Yes, Pam, I did. I don't use IE, but I have an add-on to Firefox that let's me view any page I'm at in IE. Hotmail looked about the same, except the ads aren't blocked out (another Firefox add-on). There are still no scroll bars, and I still can't get to everything on the page. It's very frustrating!

I read some of the feedback about the new Hotmail at the MS site, and most of it has everyone upset. The change is not very popular.

Sounded worth a try to me so I went to my memberpage and clicked on my hotmail. The new version came up that way too. Seems reading email in FF solves the size issue for me so I'm going to find a setting to access email through FF. Sandy

humm darn I had hoped that might work for some of you. Mine is still the same has not changed so I guess the fact I am on Verizon fios is still keeping me on the old version. I am sure they will figure a way to mess it up for me to though.
I have noticed that on occasion when I click on inbox or one of the folders to view something it goes into some weird type of endless loop and never resolves, I have to go back to the msn page and hit Inbox from there and start it again when that happens.

My husband and I have FF, too; the Hotmail change came through yesterday or the day before, and we hate it. He has to do more scrolling than before. Having a larger monitor screen than he does, I don't have that problem, but I don't like the way the messages appear in a pane to the right, leaving not only the usual trays to the far left, but also the whole sender list, unnecessarily taking up room. I have always disliked Hotmail's very bland and dull appearance, anyway, and this new arrangement seems to make it even more unappealing.

Like others here, I have emailed about Hotmail problems in the past and gotten no answer, so won't bother to tell the company

On my Laptop with Vista (IE7.0) my Hotmail does not have my list of folders, i.e., TRAVEL, SHOPPING, etc. but my upstairs Desktop with XP (IE7.0) my Hotmail does have all my folders. Strange isn't it! I hope they correct their problems. How can I contact them....

In one of the comments I saw at the Windows Live site, someone from Yahoo thanked MS, because Yahoo was getting a thousand new clients a day, since the Hotmail update. No wonder, since a lot of people are having problems.

The program manager of the update said he was going on vacation now that Hotmail was updated. I'm curious if any of his people let him know about the largely negative reaction back home.

I went to Inbox,com and opened an account. It has scroll bars and plenty of space for large print. I love it! Goodbye Hotmail. Sorry, but you blew it, with me at least.

deew, thanks for that one last comment. I've checked out Inbox.com and it looks really good. Lots of nice things included. Kind of reminds me of MSN way back when I first got a computer. Simple and did anything easily. How did computing get so complicated? Wish they'd leave things alone. Sandy

I have had an account at inbox.com for years in fact I was one of the first accounts there, just one thing to remember there is that you must keep it active because if it goes a long time with no activity they can delete it but they usually do send you an email warning to which ever other email address you provided.
My other suggested email that is really big and nice is gmx.com they have a great active forum and answer the questions and help suggestions right away. You can fetch your other mail through it also including hotmail.
The link to gmx.com below is the best link to use to access your email there, it is the https secure link and if you notice up at the top next to the login button is one that says no popup, you can use that one to log in and it will open it in a new tab rather than a new window which is what I prefer. You can set up different sounds to alert you to new mail and you can change the colors too.
