Lost Icon

I am just learning the new programs in Windows7 on a new HP laptop. On day I clicked an icon, I think it was Webcam and suddenly my face was live on my monitor. Ok, so I guess there is a camera thingy in the center of my laptop monitor screen. I wanted to check it out better a few weeks later and I clicked the icon, my fingers slipped on the mouse and the icon is gone. I checked the recycle bin and desktop and can't find it. It had been in the menu under Start/programs but it's gone. Please help me find it or put it back some how. Thanks for any help.

Try this,

Launch the HP QuickPlay application. Almost all HP laptops have the program pre-installed. If for some reason you don't have the program, you can download it from the HP website (hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html).

Click on the "Music Videos Pictures" icon in HP QuickPlay. HP Webcam will be available among the list of devices. Click on the "HP Webcam" button to turn it on. A light next to the webcam lens and an image will appear on the screen.

have you rebooted it to see if it just comes back on it's own? a system restore would probably return it also to the date before you lost it.

is this a game you have on your pc or a link to the actual website? if it is a game you have on the pc then go to the game itself in start all programs and right click on it and create shortcut and select desktop as the destination.

try going to Start, Programs, Accessories, Windows Explorer, click the "+" sign next to My Computer, "+" next to Local Drive - C, "+" next to Windows, click the word System32, on the right side of the screen - double click sndvol32.exe. That should install it. or you can do a search for sndvol32.exe and double click it. this is where to find what you were looking for control panel>sound and audio device and check the button "place volume icon in the task bar" try this first. if those do not work then go here and read the replies in the post replies #2#3 tell how to replace the needed exe file. Old news but worthy: "Unnoticed in the Tuesday release of Firefox 5 was Mozilla's decision to retire Firefox 4, shipped just three months ago. Mozilla spelled out vulnerabilities it had patched in that edition and in 2010's Firefox 3.6, but it made no mention of any bugs fixed in Firefox 4 on Tuesday, because Firefox 4 has reached what Mozilla calls EOL, for 'end of life,' for patches. Although the move may have caught users by surprise, the decision to stop supporting Firefox 4 has been discussed within Mozilla for weeks. This was the XP way---> start>control panel>sounds and audio devices then check the box place volume icon in the task bar? You can try that above on Vista and see if it works... The option may not be there on Vista though.... Or you can try below: Right Click on Taskbar > Properties > Notification Area tab > under system icons, check Volume.

Thanks but found the answer a sort round about way. All the other programs under the menu were in a folder called Cyberlink. I checked the properties of the folder to find it's address then went to Windows Explorer to find the folder. Opening the folder there is a sub-folder named YouCam which had the cam program and icon in it. I right clicked the icon and sent it to desktop then dragged it back to the start menu where it belonged. Just lucky I found it. Thanks anyway, I'll save your answers in case I slip-up again.
