ARRIVED: My Swap Box from Terri :)

20 years ago

After a trip over to our new house to take some measurements, I arrived home feeling a little grumpy thanks to several aggravating drivers along the way. Here's what I found in my chair. Grumpy mood eliminated! Hmmmm, something smells really good...

{{gwi:1464395}}

It's from Terri!! Here's what I found when I opened the box.

{{gwi:1464396}}

Terri's theme was "Twos" since it's just DH and me!

Item #1: A pretty cookbook called, "Cooking for Two." It has great photos (I like cookbooks with lots of pics) and simple recipes in smaller amounts - rice paper rolls with vegetables and wasabi dip is already on my list to try!

{{gwi:1464397}}

Item #2: An awesome crab dip dish and spreader (2 items)! Is this perfect for me, or what? Terri obviously picked up on my obsession with crabs (from spending the last 20 years in Maryland). And now I'll feel like I have a little piece of MD in our new NJ home.

{{gwi:1464398}}

Item #3: Wonderful dip mixes for my new crab dish! Two small packages and two large packages ;) Pepper Springs Ahab da' Crab cheeseball mix and roasted garlic dips, and Fusion Flavors Tarragon Truffle and Jalapeno Lemongrass dips. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but I can already picture us having dip, fresh bread, and wine for dinner!

After all, isn't dip a main course in itself?

{{gwi:1464400}}

Item #4: Terri tried to find local crab, but her fish monger didn't cooperate ;) So I got local smoked salmon and salmon pate instead. Of course, I love salmon as well! However, both of these have been claimed by DH. Hmmmm, we'll need to discuss this.

{{gwi:1464401}}

Item #5: Terri again admitted to have problems counting, as this includes three items LOL. MARGARITA Jello!!! Who knew? She picked up that I love margaritas - can't wait to try this. I also received locally made Cornet Bay Hot Seasoning, which will get lots of use, as we love seasonings. Finally, Badger Chai Rose lip balm!

{{gwi:1464402}}

But that wasn't the end. She included two butterfly cloth napkins. And guess what? We just painted our kitchen the exact same yellow :)

{{gwi:1464403}}

And finally, a bonus - a candy apple (I knew something smelled good!) candle handmade by Terri! You all probably knew she made soy-based candles, but I didn't!

{{gwi:1464404}}

And here's a photo of the whole lot unwrapped :)

{{gwi:1464405}}

Terri - I LOVE everything ! You made my first CF swap wonderful!!

    I am not at all surprised that Nancy packed such a perfect gift box, she has a knack of know what people would like. I love that batter bowl, I know that Nancy has access to local craftsmen and artists, so I'm not surprised she found such a beautiful gift. No one can have too many cookbooks, of course, and I've never had a bad product from American Spoon Food. I've got to admit, though, the maple cream is my absolute favorite on a warm scone for breakfast. Karen, I just know that you are enjoying every bit of that package. Nancy, you did a great job. Annie

    Great package Terri. I love that crab dish. Dips are dinner for me many nights. Who new they made Margarita jello. The candle is beautiful. Does it really smell like a candy apple? I think I'd like that.

    Enjoy that great package Goldgirl.

    Oh wow, I didn't realize you were a swap virgin...
    Gosh, I'm glad I didn't know that before, because then I'd have been really really nervous, about what I got you.

    Yes the candle should really really smell like a candied apple. It's a sugary apple scent. It's a new oil, I just got to test..and I loved it so much I had to share.

    Oh and yes, Jell-O seems to be on a tropical kick you can also get Pina Colada and Daquiri (I think it's strawberry.)

    Did any of you notice which lighthouse is depicted on that lovely knife that goes with the crab? I give you a clue, it moved!
    DD was here. I had to explain why I was checking and refreshing so often. I showed her your box and she said the jello was to make 'shooters'! So, go ahead, let us know how it turn out!
    Great box!

    I'm smiling thinking about liquid jello, just add tequila and voila.

    Said before, but that crab dish is one adorable item. And I am
    interested in the Pepper Springs Ahab da' Crab cheeseball mix. What is that? Ingredients?

    So, are there salmon cakes for two in your future, Sue? Isn't the swap thing out of this world?

    Terri, the sleuth, great research!

    Nice stuff...and pretty candle, Terri.

    Going to have to hunt down some of that jello next time I get to the City.

    Bet you're hooked now, goldgirl!

    I'll definitely post recipes from the cookbook, because I'm sure there must be others here cooking for one or two.

    DH said the same thing about the jello shots. I think he just wants to get me tipsy ;)

    The crab dip is actually for a cheese ball - just add 16 oz of softened cream cheese and shape. Suggestions for additions are shredded cheddar cheese, parsley, chopped pecans or almonds. Yum. Web site is www.peppersprings.com.

    The candle does small like candy apple. I have it sitting here next to my computer, and it smells sooooooo good.

    Hey Sue, How's the lip Balm?
    I've been meaning to stop back into the store I got it in, and pick up one for me.
    But it's the "birding store", and It's a dangerous place. LOL I picked up quite a few things while I was in there, and wanted to take home more!
