Terry, I looked around in bios - entered several places but never found "Wake on Lan..." It's a little scary in there! :) RC, I checked for scheduled tasks and found nothing listed that named any software on my computer. I wasn't that concerned about Vista waking up as I was that someone had broken through my security. It doesn't sound like anyone thinks that has happened, so I'm greatly relieved. Thank you. Zep, my computer automatically goes to sleep if I don't do it manually. I never know the best procedure to follow - shut the pc down or keep it on all the time! Thanks, everyone. Thanks all. I really appreciate your input. I'm leaning towards the Belkin N600 Wireless Dual Band router. I currently own a Belkin and have never had any trouble with it, so figure I'll stick with what I'm happy with. The downside is all of the reviews without fail mention how bad tech support is no matter what brand you get. I wonder when companies are going to wise up and realize that is one reason folks don't buy their equipment.

if the pc has wireless capability built in then all you would need to do is disconnect it from the router by the wire and see if it finds the wireless connection if it has everything it needs (and is enabled) then you should see in the bottom right by the clock where it is trying to connect just like you would on a laptop, you would need to enter your network passphrase into the box that pops up to allow you to connect to your network. I just looked up the specs listed for your p6310 and the networking options for it are as listed Choices: Integrated 10/100 Ethernet, No wireless LAN Modem Premium Wireless-N LAN card Wireless-N LAN card Premium Wireless-N LAN card and Bluetooth(R ) unless you chose the first one that says no wireless then you should have that capability on the pc. I would run a belarc and get all the info specific to your pc you can always print it out and keep it because that info is often needed and having it on hand can come in very handy. That way you know exactly what is in that pc. Belarc If your pc does not have the card for wireless then you can either add a card or get a usb device.

Hi Mikie, I sure hope you or someone else knowledgable is around. I'm at my daughter's house. I entered the address (numbers from above) in the address bar on the PC and went through the set up and then re-booted the PC and re-brought up the browser. On the laptop, when I click on the wirless connections icon on the tool bar it shoulw the network is available. It also shows some others. It says the network requires a network key (WEP) and I entered the same one as I'd entered on the PC, and click connect and the box disappears. But when I bring up internet explorer, it says no connection. No matter what I do, and I've tried a bunch of things, I still get no connection on the browser on the PC. Please Help!! Thanks, Alice
