Anyone have experience with Futuro or Falmec Hood Vents?
Comments (11)We are on the end legs of kitchen/dining renovation and I have the Futuro Moonbeam, 36", 900 CFM. I love it, both the look and function. My appliance dealer who did not carry this brand is now carrying because he felt that it was way better than anything else that they carried. He ran some of their units that only went up to 600 CFM and we could not hear ourselves in conversation! On the highest setting the unit is loud but not too loud considering the CFM level. My DH has a smelling disability; LOL-he hates smelling cooking odors in the house; so we wanted to go with a high CFM and also I have a 36" Electrolux Cooktop and felt with the high BTU's we also needed it. Futuro was the only one I could find that met all requirements and had the look I was looking for. The raves at their website are pretty impressive, but who would post anything but? I highly recommend them. FYI, if you do get one these are actually plugged into a socket, not direct wired. If you cut the wiring to do direct you void the warranty. I thought that was what it said at the website but my electrician, said no way. But that is the case. The outlet sits behind the false shaft in my case....See Morevent-a-hood ars duct-free range hood
Comments (3)This is such a new product, you're probably not going to find much of anyone with any experience. Even the Vent-A-Hood website doesn't have much information yet. The product is attracting some attention in the trade press, but most of that is from the Vent-A-Hood PR Department You can see a Vent-A-Hood video on the product on YouTube. See the link below. From the video, the design seems plausible, and perhaps more effective than competing products...but it does look complicated, and looks as though you'll need to buy and replace filters, which probably aren't cheap. Comments (2)The stress on the roof beams should be least at their ends, so the amount of structural enhancement needed to allow a roof penetration for a horizontal duct near the hood height should be less than for penetrating higher on the roof. You might want to consult with an architect who can engineer a solution for that location. I can't help with any illustrations, although you might check out Soler & Palau's web site. I vaguely remember that they had some unusual duct runs shown there. kas...See MoreExternal Venting Hoods - Makes, models, experience, suggestions please
