The ones I got were two Cumulative Security Updates for Windows and several Security Updates for XP. I downloaded and installed thiem this afternoon and have encountered no problems.

there have been several problems popping up here and there for some people, so you may want to hold off a day or so. One is definitely having conflicts with some versions of zone alarm. some have lost internet connection, and a few other issues cropping up. some have had serious issues with IE especially IE6 after the updates.

oh and be sure you check to see if windows firewall turned itself on after this update you do not want to have 2 firewalls running and that seems to have happened to some.

I know it was also causing issues for those that use usenets.

I will likely wait till next week to get them that way they can hopefully iron out the kinks. but of course many have shown no problems at all, never know.

You can of course choose to only do the critical ones that it shows for your pc rather than all of them.

I recieved 5 updates yesterday and 2 today. All of these were ok.

I also had 11 Jane and the computer accepted them with no issues that I have noticed so far. I installed them on patch Tuesday. I think 7 were XP related and the others Office 2007.

Got um, did um, (11) now have my fingers crossed after reading this.

I think for most people they are going on fine the problems seem to be sporadic this time.

there has been a revised list issued so they may be making some changes to fix the problems.

I usually always wait till the following week just in case.
But I am seeing more say they went on fine than I am seeing with problems so far.

Had 8 updates for Vista. Installed them a couple at a time and things are good to go.

My Vista 8 plus an optional wifi driver went in all at once... windows did a smart update at reboot,, installed 3 I think, then refreshed before installing the remainder.

Wifi card update was the one I used to have problems with, update would not save other than plain dynamic ip default settings ... fixed ip & custom dns would be lost.
They save and restore settings finally now for at least the past few driver updates.

Installed all last night and all is well. I noticed they installed when I shut down my computer. MS has been doing that lately. I thought they were installed until I went to shut down the computer. In the shut-down window it said 'install updates' and shut down.

Wonder how long support will continue for XP?

I got seven and they all installed at shutdown last night. No problems.

My computer asks me if I want to install them when I shut down. There is the option to say no.

And my son the geek says too many people use XP for them to discontinue support for the forseeable future. Hope he's right.

Todays Windows Secrets Newsletter had a few mentions of some of the problems with these latest patches, as always it is a great newsletter with a lot of good info.

They announced a couple of weeks ago they are extending the sale options for XP (as a downgrade) and also the support so it is looking like they are trying to get it extended till just about when the new Windows 7 Operating system comes out.
