Last evening, I inadvertently held down a key too long or something of the sort. A box popped up with the heading "filter keys" with several choices. I tried changing a couple of things and noticed an icon in the tray, near the clock. Well, I unchecked "show icon in tray" and then could not find this again to undo what I had done. In order to print, I had to hold down a key for a full second, and the Shift key would not work to capitalize. I searched and could not find "filter keys" anywhere on my computer, a desktop running XP, SP3. I had the Logitech LX710 wireless keyboard/mouse combo. I figured it must be something with the keyboard. Today I tried re-installing, nada, changed keyboards and mouse to wired ones, again nothing. I just couldn't type. Finally, desperate, I remembered System Restore. I restored back to Sunday, Oct. 4, and now everything is working fine again.

Now here's the mystery. What is "filter keys" and where would I find this on my computer? I notice in Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs, a listing KBD, but nowhere do I find this as a program. I was very hesitant about removing this, so did not do so. Device Manager showed nothing amiss, so that's when I finally came to the conclusion that it was not my hardware, but some application on the computer causing the trouble. I really would like to know what this is, just in case I should ever encounter it again. Thanks a million!
