Mikie you beat me to it. Sorry about that - I shoulda lookt at it closer.... Well I sort of thought the hype about RegCure looked a bit contrived - suspected it might have been self serving so I messed around with it some and.. You have to buy RegCure - I didn't see that right off. I tried it and it found 487 problems of which it fixt 3; the rest if it got registered. They haven't sent the KEY yet. Maybe you get one free run, ie one free fix w/o money. I ran Abexo and got 33 errors which I left. I ran RegSeeker (Same outfit ?) which got 115 errors which I eliminated. I re-ran Abexo and got 11 errors which I eliminated. I reran RegCure and got 473 errors. I reran Regseeker and got 6 errors which I eliminated. I re-re ran RegCure and got 477 errors which remain unfixt. What a crock! The mind boggles. For sure the RegCure ran way faster than tuthers. Perhaps it would be worth the money vs buying another printer but I spect it would be a gamble.

I would not consider having to replace a hard drive as a computer being worn out. Updating an older pc is fairly easy to do and can keep them lasting a good long time. Adding the max amount of RAM is the first very good option, if the hard drive is running low on space cloning the drive to a larger hard drive is a very good option and hard drives are not terribly expensive. If and when things on the mother board start to break or deterioate then those are things I start to consider as wearing out, however even a mother board can be replaced, but at that point cost vs a new one should come into play. doing a lot of good housecleaning on a pc and keeping it updated and free of malware and keeping all that excess junk from building up on the drive and you can have a pc that last many many years. Some of mine are quite old and going strong. If it has not been defragged in a long time that is certainly something to consider doing. I think you mentioned it was an emachine, they are not the highest quality product and some of their stuff has had negative reviews, it would depend on your model, your RAM your hard drive capacity etc. Run a belarc on it and that can tell you a lot of info and you can provide some of that here to give us more ideas. All of my computers stay up 24/7 and connected to fios, as long as you have all your protection layers up and running all the time there is no difference from daytime and night time at all. I never turn off my pc's unless there is weather or I am going out of town. I do turn off my monitor at night. I am also behind a router with firewall so I have hardware and software firewalls. As I said I have used zone alarm pro, an older version, for years now on all my windows computers. I do not like the more recent versions because they are more bloated. Using an older version is ok it does it's job just fine. My scans run at about 3am when I know I will not be on the computer and it will have all the resources to run them. I have them set on different days of course. I run regular scans at a minimum of once a week but usually more often. Any other tasks I have set up in windows task scheduler. On my linux computer I have klam AV and Guarddog firewall, not that you really need any of that on a linux machine but since I also have windows machines that I send to and from it is more to protect my windows boxes. I always have spywareblaster on all my windows computers and usually have spywareguard also both by javacool. I now mostly use superantispyware on them, I have not used AdAware in ages, on occasion use Spybot S&D. NEVER use registry cleaners on any of my computers.
