I study linguistics and I didn't even know about Scirus. But thanks for letting me know. I'm testing it out now. But I do agree Google scholar is fantastic. One of the things it does, that Scirus doesn't seem to be doing for me as I look at it, is give me the article as the top hit when I type in a citation. I typed in the same citation in Scirus and just get links to relevant web pages. My whole dept. loves Google Scholar!

Hi, Enjoyingspring....It was probably a program that converts to cartoons...uhhh, possibly called art...I have one that came with the Oly camera...I only play around with it little cos it takes time, and I don't have much of that ;(...do a google there may be some free ones out there if you're interested, there's always some kind of learning curve but can be quite fun and hilarious! juanita

I had that too, Bea. I got rid of it, but not sure how I did it. I don't remember. I think I went on through an old bookmark which opened the page to the normal page. From there I could navigate to the forums. I deleted the old bookmarks and made new ones. I'm pretty sure that is what I did. Very annoying, I agree, but there is a work around. Try going on through a bookmark. I use Firefox so not sure which browser you use. Jane

Take heart. The world is changing. I think we are improving in our ability to recognize our mutual humanity, not our differences. I'm (slightly) Pre-WWII. My MIL and an aunt-by-marriage never missed an opportunity to disparage black people. The aunt, a native of Missouri, had one sneering term, 'Nigras'. As a child, I couldn't understand why my DM shushed when I intended to help someone walking ahead of us on a Chicago street, calling out, "Mommy, that cleaning lady dropped her glove!" The only black women I knew were 'the help'. Public transit was filled with black faces coming out of the city to the suburbs in the mornings and returning to the city in the afternoon. I clearly remember driving from Chicago to Florida one winter as a child, passing chain gangs in Georgia -- white men on horseback with rifles, overseeing dozens of black men laboring in the sun.n chains. We once stayed overnight in an antebellum home with a Confederate flag at the door. The owner, in 'reduced circumstances', didn't try to contain her contempt for black people...or us Yankees. (The memory is like something out of Tennessee Williams!) I can't remember seeing people of color on TV until a groundbreaking drama, "Julia" introduced us to a family no different from any other, aside from being black. Now we have a wide variety of 'colors' and 'persuasions' -- in dramas, comedies, and, importantly, in positions of authority and trust. I'm not saying there isn't a LOT of room for change, but I'm encouraged. Could this horrible pandemic serve a larger purpose? Could we Love One Another?
