I will try to answer your questions with what limited knowledge I have. Planting the Palm in the picture with the black plastic and rocks was not intentional on my part. I had put the plastic down and the rocks a few years before I even planted the palm. If I had taken the picture at a different angle you would see the pool that is close to the palm. I put the plastic and rocks around the pool to help keep the pool cleaner by not getting all that grass in the water. But I do think that it does help with keeping the palm a little warmer in the winter. The rocks would absorb heat from the sun and the plastic would help some to insulate the roots a little better. The other two windmills I have are mulched but the one in the picture never has been. The two other palms have not grown as fast as the one in the picture. The question about how big the hole I dug to plant the palm in. The answer is I double the side of the root ball in depth and in length. I used plain old potting soil "without any fertilizer", with some peak moss and a little bit of sand. I did not give it any fertilizer I used Superthieve with every watering for the first three months then I used mild amount of Miracle Grow. Question... the nursery that I bought them at told me to snip the outside fans in order to induce faster growth, I notice you haven't done that. Snipping the outsides, also gives more of a traditional palm look to it, wouldn't it. I have never heard of this before, I canÂt image cutting off healthy growth to make the palm grow faster. If it was me and you just planted them they are stressed enough already I sure would not be cutting on them. Over time the bottom ones will die off anyway. Protemp, I keep six Windmill in the house all winter they are pretty easy to care for just mist them keep them watered but not wet and place them where they will get some sun. neofolis, I think someone else has already answered this but we do have a long hot summer. I saw an interview with the Princes the other day on NBC and I noticed a Windmill Palm in the back ground how cool. To simplify things for you I have copied a fix that I found at Kellys Korner which is a genuine and highly regarded source of tips and fixes for all sorts of problems. Number 255 on the right hand side of the page is labelled "My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot (for C:\)" and gives the code that I have copied below. It is a Registry Patch that simply puts the correct value back where it belongs. Open Notepad on your computer then copy and paste the text into it and save the file as USERINIT.REG - that's USERINIT dot REG Now double click it and answer yes to the import prompt. Yes that would work just fine. You could either copy and paste the entire 'My Documents' and replace the current folder bearing in mind you would lose any data in the current 'My Documents' folder on the destination computer. Or you could just copy and paste any or all folders and files which are inside your 'My Documents' folder so the original files on the destination computer would still remain intact.

I don't have everything under control but it was a wonderful day when I put a laundry basket beneath the small desk in our entry way. When mail comes in, I put all standard monthly bills inside without opening. I now have added a zip lock bag to the laundry basket and store all receipts/maintenance for the house in that laundry basket. At the end of the year, I pull out the zip lock bag and put that in my file cabinet for the house filed by year. The rest of the stuff in the laundry basket goes into a kitchen trash sized bag with a stickup label on the outside that has the year. I store the bag in our loft which we use for storage (could put it in an attic or closet, etc.) At the beginning of the year, I make sure the laundry basket beneath the desk is EMPTY. This location is handy because I can sort my mail quickly. I have two or three times needed to go into this basket in the years since I've been doing this. Once I remember I needed a water bill to show I was a city resident and could use the dump for hauling trash. I found what I needed within 10 minutes. I have added a second ziploc bag to the laundry basket labeled "Annual bills/invoices/records" such as when I get our health and home insurance statements, (can't remember what else goes in there. ) This is still a work in progress but I LOVE having a place to immediately file. (I have another small pot I use for storing tax related stuff that comes in starting in January) and since we itemize, I have a small box close by for medical receipts that are kept file yearly. (Haven't figured out where or how or when to store blood test results, etc...work in progress) Trick for me is to make it EASY to file immediately. I have a box for junk mail that I use for tossing, don't even open. Then I take whole box (when it fills up) to Office Max store where they charge modest amount to shred. I don't even have to keep a shredder anymore. As a result of this thread, I think I will change and find a new "Pot" for "IMPORTANT" and save and store on a yearly basis and don't throw away periodically. I think filiing immediately and trying to avoid sorting until you must find something is a good strategy. As a result of remodeling, I will have a new fairly nice sized closet near the entry way. I plan to put my "pots" in there. However, I don't think I will move the laundry basket. It has been such a life-saviour, I don't want to mess with a good thing.
