stop My Documents from loading

I have windows XP home IE6 . The other day I got a bunch of bad stuff on my comp. I worked for two days to clean it all up but did. well now eveytime I start my comp. MY Documents is open and I have to close it. how do I stop that from happening? thanks to all Jackie

To simplify things for you I have copied a fix that I found at Kellys Korner which is a genuine and highly regarded source of tips and fixes for all sorts of problems.

Number 255 on the right hand side of the page is labelled "My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot (for C:\)" and gives the code that I have copied below.

It is a Registry Patch that simply puts the correct value back where it belongs.

Open Notepad on your computer then copy and paste the text into it and save the file as USERINIT.REG - that's USERINIT dot REG

Now double click it and answer yes to the import prompt. Incidentally, REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

I tried the patch and that did not work. I even went to the where you said and downloaded the patch strait from there and still no luck. I restarted my comp both times. any other suggestions. Thanks for trying to help me. Jackie

I have far less experience than the majority of folks here growing lemons, but I do have a meyer in gritty mix, so I'll add my $0.02. I think the initial decline of the plant was due to under watering and the most recent leaf curling is also a symptom of under watering. I've found it darn near impossible to overwater my Meyer lemon when it's planted in gritty mix. It sits under a 150 watt HPS lamp during the winter and I water it every 4 days until I see water in the saucer. Since it's so heavy and I don't care to move it, I even let the water sit in the tray. The gritty mix is very forgiving for people who have a heavy hand on the watering can.

I will try to answer your questions with what limited knowledge I have. Planting the Palm in the picture with the black plastic and rocks was not intentional on my part. I had put the plastic down and the rocks a few years before I even planted the palm. If I had taken the picture at a different angle you would see the pool that is close to the palm. I put the plastic and rocks around the pool to help keep the pool cleaner by not getting all that grass in the water. But I do think that it does help with keeping the palm a little warmer in the winter. The rocks would absorb heat from the sun and the plastic would help some to insulate the roots a little better. The other two windmills I have are mulched but the one in the picture never has been. The two other palms have not grown as fast as the one in the picture. The question about how big the hole I dug to plant the palm in. The answer is I double the side of the root ball in depth and in length. I used plain old potting soil "without any fertilizer", with some peak moss and a little bit of sand. I did not give it any fertilizer I used Superthieve with every watering for the first three months then I used mild amount of Miracle Grow. Question... the nursery that I bought them at told me to snip the outside fans in order to induce faster growth, I notice you haven't done that. Snipping the outsides, also gives more of a traditional palm look to it, wouldn't it. I have never heard of this before, I canÂt image cutting off healthy growth to make the palm grow faster. If it was me and you just planted them they are stressed enough already I sure would not be cutting on them. Over time the bottom ones will die off anyway. Protemp, I keep six Windmill in the house all winter they are pretty easy to care for just mist them keep them watered but not wet and place them where they will get some sun. neofolis, I think someone else has already answered this but we do have a long hot summer. I saw an interview with the Princes the other day on NBC and I noticed a Windmill Palm in the back ground how cool. I hope I have answered all your questions sorry it has taken me some time, I have not had the time for a reply.

If you draw a section through the house you will be able to note almost everything and avoid a written specification the builders are likely to ignore. Make it large enough to easily read. It would show and note the framing heights, framing member sizes, anchors, tie downs, rafter clips, typ. header, insulation, weather barrier/vapor retarder/drainage plane, attic access, roofing, gutters, attic ventilation, ext. cladding, interior finishes & trim, crawlspace & ventilation, slab, vapor retarder and crushed stone under slab, foundation materials and depth and drainage. Framing plans would probably not be necessary. I would use 1/2" Huber Zip wall sheathing to eliminate housewrap or if you want to fuss with that stuff use Tyvek or Typar (no substitutions). 5/8" OSB or plywood roof sheathing, Ice & Water Shield full coverage (there would only be a small portion not covered after using it on the eaves, valleys and ridge). The window flashing would be a butyl based flexible tape (Tyvek Grace, etc. - I don't like to use asphalt based flashing on plastic although it seems to be done routinely. The windows seem small. I would at least lower the sills a foot. This would be a major improvement for a reasonable cost.

If the drain works, then there is no need for a condensate pump. Who somebody trying to sell you a pump? I did not see a response as to whether the 2 ton AC kept you cool in the summer. What temperature do you set the thermostat? How is the humidity level? The Bryant 214 is part of the legacy series. I would rather see you spend a little more money and get something from the Bryant Preferred series. Trane makes a very good heat pump and from everything I have read would have no hesitation to buying their equipment. Many warranty problems are due to bad installations which seems to be common in Florida. Trane may have refused to honor warranties where the equipment was improperly installed. Tigedunes knows heat pumps. So I recommend you consider any of his recommendations. Consider all options, but the decision may come down to your budget and the size of the closet. You also need to find a contractor who know how to install a heat pump properly. Some of the comments you have posted so far makes me suspicious.

Firstly, I would strongly recommend that you backup all your data (and emails) before things get any worse.

This most probably is a registry problem, but be very careful what you type when changing the registry because the slightest error can result in a total crash and everything will be lost.

Try putting my documents folder opens on boot into google and work your way through the answers. Slightly changing the search criteria usually finds some different answers.

It turns out that yours is a fairly common problem that can be tricky to fix.

I have provided another link that looks like it might give some more clues.

Hopefully the experts will be along soon because I am sorry but I cannot help any further.
