stop My Documents from loading

I have windows XP home IE6 . The other day I got a bunch of bad stuff on my comp. I worked for two days to clean it all up but did. well now eveytime I start my comp. MY Documents is open and I have to close it. how do I stop that from happening? thanks to all Jackie

To simplify things for you I have copied a fix that I found at Kellys Korner which is a genuine and highly regarded source of tips and fixes for all sorts of problems.

Number 255 on the right hand side of the page is labelled "My Documents Folder Opens Upon Boot (for C:\)" and gives the code that I have copied below.

It is a Registry Patch that simply puts the correct value back where it belongs.

Open Notepad on your computer then copy and paste the text into it and save the file as USERINIT.REG - that's USERINIT dot REG

Now double click it and answer yes to the import prompt. Incidentally, REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

I tried the patch and that did not work. I even went to the where you said and downloaded the patch strait from there and still no luck. I restarted my comp both times. any other suggestions. Thanks for trying to help me. Jackie

Don't be too anxious to check for roots by tugging on the plant - that can set the plant back considerably by breaking any fine roots that might be forming. When new growth is apparent, you'll know the plant has rooted. Watering every 2 days is much too often - especially if you didn't screen the perlite and if you stuck the cutting deep into the pot. The end of the cutting should not be immersed in any perched water the container/perlite holds. That will reduce the chances your plant will root w/o problems considerably. If you want a full plant, you need to truncate the main stem about 2/3 of the height at which you envision maintaining the plant. This will force branching from the main stem. Then, when branches on the lower half of the tree get to 4-5 leaves, cut the branch back to 2-3 leaves. When branches on the upper half of the tree get to 3 leaves, cut them back to 2 leaves. I have far less experience than the majority of folks here growing lemons, but I do have a meyer in gritty mix, so I'll add my $0.02. I think the initial decline of the plant was due to under watering and the most recent leaf curling is also a symptom of under watering. I've found it darn near impossible to overwater my Meyer lemon when it's planted in gritty mix. It sits under a 150 watt HPS lamp during the winter and I water it every 4 days until I see water in the saucer. Since it's so heavy and I don't care to move it, I even let the water sit in the tray. The gritty mix is very forgiving for people who have a heavy hand on the watering can.

Just a little eye rolling left! Second floor is important should guide your decision. Some units vibrate less than others due to the type of suspension - someone help me out here, but I believe a washer with a "hanging" type suspension will vibrate less. Also, with a second floor you have to worry about leaks destroying your house. Two things will help you never have to deal with this. Have your plumber install "Burstbuster" valves and use Floodchek hoses (google both to find them). Do not use hoses that come with the machine or that you can buy at the home center. They are inferior. Burst washing machine hoses can release hundreds of gallons of water and are the second top reason for home insurance claims (first - leaking fridge ice maker plumbing). You don't want to turn your stairs into a water fall. Please whatever washer you buy, be smart with a few ounces of prevention. The Floodchek hoses are superior and the likelihood of them leaking or bursting is far less than standard hoses. If they ever do leak, the Burstbuster will detect the water and shut off the valves thereby saving your house and thousands and thousands in damage.

If the drain works, then there is no need for a condensate pump. Who somebody trying to sell you a pump? I did not see a response as to whether the 2 ton AC kept you cool in the summer. What temperature do you set the thermostat? How is the humidity level? The Bryant 214 is part of the legacy series. I would rather see you spend a little more money and get something from the Bryant Preferred series. Trane makes a very good heat pump and from everything I have read would have no hesitation to buying their equipment. Many warranty problems are due to bad installations which seems to be common in Florida. Trane may have refused to honor warranties where the equipment was improperly installed. Tigedunes knows heat pumps. So I recommend you consider any of his recommendations. Consider all options, but the decision may come down to your budget and the size of the closet. You also need to find a contractor who know how to install a heat pump properly. Some of the comments you have posted so far makes me suspicious.

Firstly, I would strongly recommend that you backup all your data (and emails) before things get any worse.

This most probably is a registry problem, but be very careful what you type when changing the registry because the slightest error can result in a total crash and everything will be lost.

Try putting my documents folder opens on boot into google and work your way through the answers. Slightly changing the search criteria usually finds some different answers.

It turns out that yours is a fairly common problem that can be tricky to fix.

I have provided another link that looks like it might give some more clues.
