I bought 2 new HP/PC's one big desktop, got a great deal at Office Depot, and it's a new quad core, 6MB RAM, and can be taken up to 16 MB RAM, came with a beautiful 21.5" LCD HD monitor, the price was great, also new 17" HP laptop, 4 GB RAM awesome resolution on screen, at Walmart it's the latest from HP also.. first thing I do is get rid of all trial offers installed like Norton,Office etc. then load AVG2011 and malewarebytes, windows firewall is installed of course, and defender comes in W7, which many people do not know about, and it's great..(both pc have huge HD's too)

More facts. My picture default is MS Office Picture software. This is the software that will not display a desktop picture, which is a pointer (link) to the picture file. But, the same MS software will display the picture from the picture file system and from the DT pointer. For manual activation, I activate the MS Office Picture software from an icon on the Windows DT. This may be related to the fact that my pointer to MS Hearts (card game) will not active either... but I do not know what software runs Hearts, maybe a browser.. I have never taken note.

Do Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up your Task Manager, click on the Processes tab, and click once or twice on the CPU tab at the top of the listings: this will show what process is chewing up the most resources (which will probably be the culprit). Also, look at the CPU Usage line at the bottom of Task Manager and see what the % Usage is. Then report back here on what you found out.

Abreeze you obviously have an MSI motherboard and the CD will cover all the onboard drivers needed like LAN, sound, IDE and/or SATA. You would use this after installing Win 7. Win 7 will likely have the drivers for your video card then afterwards you can visit the video card maker's site and grab the latest drivers if you wish. This is a separate video card on not onboard? The Win 7 install will no doubt include your LG DVD burner drivers too, you will not necessarily need to install any burning software because that is included with the new operating system. If you use Skype be sure to grab the very latest version otherwise you may get compatibility issues. 4.1.0.179 Bob414 are you saying you created a dual boot system and placed both operating systems on the same partition? Normally one would create a second partition on the hard drive or have a second hard drive. By default when I dual booted XP and Win7 the Win 7 install took control and offered itself, I needed to select XP if I wanted that operating system to boot. With all other software you need to install from both operating systems but have them both point to the same file location on either the C: or D: drive so you access the same stuff from either partition.
