This seems more like a software activity and not hardware related. Do as Darch suggests and look for any new install even if you have to start removing programs till you find the right one. Be sure you have the CD before uninstalling so you are able to install the programs after.

Strange that nothing pops up on the screen when you get these beeps as they suggest an alarm or reminder of some sort.

I don't see anything on task manager that I could think of as new... I do have KHALMNPR running, which is something from Logitec for my cordless mouse and key board..

Just wondering.... could there be any connection to an Adobe update or Java update? I had both of those in the last few weeks. Nothing else is new.

Ah, cordless keyboard. Try replacing the batteries in the keyboard. Or for a temporary fix take them out and wipe the ends vigorously to wipe off the crud build up and see if that helps.

Well Okay... new batteries are in place.

Here is a real experience I have gone thru, Hampton Roads Coliseum, VA.

The Coliseum after spent millions of dollars for a sound system, the system operated nicely except often it will have a low beep every 60 seconds, which of course was a big problem. They were unable to book any events obviously.

After spending a lot of money and replacement of many components in the system, the problem remained.

After many frustrating tries, and expensive engineering consulting fees, the problem was finally track down.

The Coliseum was a few miles from a naval base. Whenever one of those battle ships turned on their scanning radar, an unexpected signal would be induced in the preamplifiers of the system. The entire equipment room was shielded in what is known as a "Faraday Cage" and the problem went away.

Similar interference situation happened in the Pilot training facility�s computer system near JFK airport.

You said every 61 seconds, that is very interesting.

Are you near any installations which may have radio broadcast systems? An airport?

Do you have any equipment which may be leaking RFI (Radio Frequency Interference)? (For instance, a wireless intercom system).

Try plugging in your computer in a very good surge protector outlet.

Many electronic equipment have a thing (bump) on the power cord, that is called a choke. It is made of ferrite material. It traps interferences which leaks thru the power cord. If that is missing, that can cause interferences.

I changed the batteries in the keyboard and checked the mouse batteries too. Didn't do it, I still got the beeps on schedule.

Dcarch, it's not every 61 sec, it's every 61 min.
I live in Northern Michigan on a lake. No big concentration of anything...except water. I do have a number of cell towers, way across the lake, but in view. Nice because I get excellent cell coverage.

I'll check back for any other ideas and double check all my wires etc.

I have Advast! and have run my other malware cleaners, I empty my "junk" using CCleaner about every other night. So, as far as I know the computer is clean and there are no other problems.

These beeps aren't loud but there is a pattern to them and it's always the same. They only last a couple of seconds, then it's another 61 min. before I hear them again.

I may have found the cause. I went to the control panel and clicked on Scheduled Tasks. I found Google Update Task Machine UA and also Core.
The Task Machine was scheduled to run every hour, every day, the little box was enabled, so I unchecked it.

Guess I'll see what happens but I'll bet that that's it.

If it is 61 minutes interval, that eliminates nearby scanning radar (some small boats have that).

Audio engineers can tell you that sometimes you can elinmate some interferences by reversing the electric power plug. Obviously you cannot do that with a grounded plug.

If someone has a USB sound adapter ($4.00 ebay). You can plug it in your computer and find out if the problenm is the computer's sound card or there is another problem with the computer.

There is agood possiblity that the built-in sound card is the problem, a leaky capacitor is a possiblity.

CD DVD machines also plug into the sound inputs on the sound card. You can try unplugging the power connection to the CD and DVD and see if that would stop the beep sound. I don't think so, but worth a try.

I had just gone to bed, computer was on hibernate, yet I heard the noise....right on schedule.

Most computer all hardware is powered off during hibernate so no way should it make a peep = What hardware in this computer has power during hibernate ?

I like the thought of a software concern. I statrted to post some thoughts last night , but was interrupted by my loving five year old granddaughter so I will try again.

Download and install WinPatrol. Review the reports on the Startup and Services tabs. Pay close attention for software update entries, and of course those "hurry up" entries some software installs to "activate their applications faster". Do not delete any entries only disable them.

I too was thinking about the Google Updater. Do you use Google or its products a lot? I for one have mine disabled.

I'm down in the Thumb on Lake Huron. If your comfortable answering, in general where are you at? Yesterday morning it was 28 degrees here. Way too early for all that.

I've disabled a few things...but the beeps continue.

I did download WinPatrol and the only new thing I could see was Adobe Speed Launcher so I disabled that. But I got the beeps again, so that wasn't it either.

DA, I'm up on Lake Charlevoix. Yesterday it got cold enough to frost some of the plants on my deck. Being by the water helps....interior areas received killing frost several weeks ago.

Beeping sound is never good, except when the computer first starts and it is going thru bios routine.

1. Back up all you files ASAP just in case.

2. Start the computer in "Safe Mode" (F8 key when starting computer) and see if you get the beep sound.

Have you tried to play some music and see if the sound card is OK?

or consider doing a restore back to a point previous to the start of the beeping noise (two weeks)Then carefully monitor any updates/additions to bring it back up to the point where it is now...

I've tried your suggestions and nothing seems to make a difference. I still get this little beep in the same pattern.

Since everything else is fine, I'll just let it do it's thing.

Do you have a user manual on the BIOS that might tell you what it is? BIOS battery maybe? When you boot up, do you see any error messages appear on screen?

Found out the problem....

I have an iPod that hasn't been used in a while and was not connected to the computer. It needed recharging and the beeps ended as soon as I connected it.
Funny part is, my cell phone was in my purse and in the same general area. It started beeping to let me know it needed charging also. I ran across the iPod when I was looking for the cause of the second beeps.

All is quiet again :)
