Question about spyware?

I have Malwarebites, paid version and the free Super Anti Spyware and have been offered good price for updating? Is it worth it and what other program could I get to speed up computer. It is XL and I do have alot of Big Fish games on it. Should I take some off?

Any other suggestion would be appreciated.

you only want one of those programs like malwarebytes that run full time since you have the paid version of that one I would just stick with that and use the free version of superantispyware and do your scans manually with it after updating it.

Speeding up is not something you can get a program to do,you need to do some cleaning out in the computer of programs or games and files that you no longer need or use and also if it is a desktop open the tower and make sure there are no dustbunnies in there, that can cause slowness and over heating. This is a good guide for what can help a slow computer.

When you state "speed up" do you mean like it originally was, or make it faster? As Raven reports to return the system to out-of-the box efficiency it requires some system cleaning, and assurance that only minimum applications are running in the background. If you are trying to make the system more viable than ever that is difficult to do without physical changes and it has its limitations. You can't make a Ferrari out of a VW.

Start saving your nickels. XP is on the way down the slippery slope. If Windows 8 releases in December of next year, 50/50 chance at best, XP will then be three releases behind the current version. Of course, it will still be in the Microsoft life-cycle, but software will undoubtedly be focusing primarily on 64-bit and possibly 128-bit by then.

I'm not exactly sure what the quoted writer is complaining about; SWB not running in realtime following a bootup, or the application is not active following bootup so to provide a faster response if user demanded. The free versions of SAS and MAM do not run in realtime, and I personally have the lone "services" entry, which is for SAS to load faster, configured to manual. If Malwarebytes is clean you can be pretty sure your ok, if you got infected you most likely to see some symptoms. Run the on-line scan below to double check for Malware. Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Firefox or Internet Explorer from here: http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html To optimize scanning time and produce a more sensible report for review: Close any open programs Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan. Click when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions. Click Run at the Security prompt. The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database. Please be patient as this can take several minutes. Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan. Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it. Do be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined. Click View scan report at the bottom. Click the Save Report As... button. Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop. Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. No not make it faster than originally, just faster because I need to clean it up--too many games, plus everything else. This is a homebuilt outfit, thru buy.com/tiger.com etc. Hope to stick with it until???? Then will worry about anything new. Hubby does the building and I do the playing/learning. We each have our own, he has Vista/etc, windows 7 etc. This forum is great with all the help/ideas etc.
