oh well you have every type of connection on there you could get and you only need ONE! IF you have an HDMI cable that goes from your TV to the DVR player that is it that is all you need disconnect all those other cables! the HDMI is video and audio all in one cable that is the advanatage of HDMI one cable and the highest quality. The other options are only to be used if you are using devices that do not use HDMI. So plug the HDMI cable to either the DVR or the DVD depending on which one you want to use, then use the the red and white RCA jacks on the tv (it does not matter if there is a yellow one beside it that yellow is for video not audio so you will use the red and white only) plug your headphones red and white male cords in to those red and white female out jacks on the tv. That is all! leave all other cords out of the equation. As long as all of your devices that you want to connect to the tv have HDMI use that. IF your tv did not have HDMI then you would use the 3 colored ones yellow white and red that carries video on yellow and right and left audio on the red and white. Ok try that just the HDMI cable and your head phones. BE sure that the source input on the tv is set to HDMI if that is what you will be plugging the DVR or DVD into, if the source input is not selected on the tv you will not be getting the signal. This statement right here is very baffling -a 3-prong (yellow, red & white) from the TV (video out) to the three middle (audio out) jacks on the DVR. you state you are going from tv out to DVR out you can not go from out to out there has to be an IN for anything to work. But you do not need those cables so remove them completely from the equation. HDMI out from DVR to HDMI cable IN on the tv period. Borrow someone's working stereo amp and speakers. Plug the white and red wires audio cables from the DVD player into the stereao's AUX inputs. Leave the S-Video plugged into DVD player and TV. Play the DVD. If the audio is now fine, you have a CRT TV problem. If the audio is still crappy you either have a bad DVD player or still have bad audio cables. Good Luck.

I need help. I bought a new 42 inch screen Magnavox HD TV set. We are a member of the Direct TV Satellite Cable Network. The dish is outside of the house with a coaxil cable entering the home to a black box that sits beside the TV. A coaxil cable leaves the black box to a Power Surge Protector Electrical strip. Another coaxil cable leaves this connection to the TV back input area. The TV channels, volume, etc are controlled by the handheld Dish Remote Control. The Magnovox TV remote is not used. I have a Symphonic DVD Player and the red, white, yellow wire set and its own remote control. I have an Emerson VCR with a coaxil connector wire and its own remote controller. I do not know where to connect the VCR coaxil wire to the TV. The TV set has overall, 3 sites for the colored wire connection ports. (1) an area on the left side near the back of the screen for the yellow,red,white connection, and 2 separate areas called line 1 and line 2 connections (but a double set of plugs of red, white and yellow colored ports in this assembly)which is very confusing. Which row do I use? Goal: I want to know how to connect the VCR and the DVD. They are to be used separately. Do I hook up these 2 separately at the varied colored port areas, and they run independently with their remotes? Do I connect to the black box? Do I run the DVD through the back out hook-up of colored ports to the colored inports at the VCR front area and connect to the TV via a coaxil somehow?....Is the black box involved or bypassed? Please keep the insructions simple. The 3 sets of appliance directions are too confusing. I am having trouble with each appliance and the individual directions are not helpful to me with the currently used Direct TV Dish system. Thank you in advance.
