Buyer Beware> I have bought items from Goodwill off and on for the past few years. We didn't have a store close by. One thing you need to check is the outrageous shipping charges and handling charges. I saw a lovely metal vintage style tea pot I would love to have....bid 3.00 reasonable............shipping 10.00........handling.....2.00. Hmmmmmmmmmm tea pot not so attractive at 15.00 and that's if you get it for the 3.00 bid. I love looking thru all the items Goodwill has but some of their shipping rates are way out of line. All these items are donated and I know for a fact it doesn't cost 10.00 to ship one tea pot. Don't want to rain on your parade just want to make you aware. I also bounce between goodwill and ebay and yes I am a wicked sniper...............LOL Does anyone remember Andy's Warehouse Auction? It was run by Fingerhut no less..........oooooooooh the bargains I got there and their shipping was reasonable. How i miss them. There were a couple others but I don't remember the names. Sigh! Hmmmmmmmmm maybe I should google. Then there's freecycle.............I can't begin to tell you all the goodies I have gotten off there. Ok so I belong to 5 different ones.............:) I subscribe to all that are within a 50 mile radius and try to pick up two or more items on one trip if possible. Anybody watch the Junk Brothers? Calvin, Mine's not growing yet, probably because I've changed the medium a couple of times. Currently, it's in 3/4 sphag & 1/4 bark mix in a 5" or 6" clay pot, double-potted w/ another clay pot w/ a layer of sphag between the two. Stones in the bottom of both pots. I switched to this last Sunday after an experienced grower here said his was growing nicely in 100% sphag. (The bark in mine doesn't make rational sense, okay? :)) Paul, hopefully, it's just a matter of getting conditions right... but that's the catch so far. Have you heard of things in our zones that didn't work? 3 resources - 1. On the UK forum, there's a thread on "Hab. myriotricha" that prompted me to take the plant out of the original tiny clay pot. Now I wish I'd retained the medium, which looked like pure sphag. Posters also have options for cultural conditions. http://www.ukorchidforum.com/ (Some use medusa & myriotricha interchangably; some say they're different species.) 2. Article from Orchid Review on Hab. medusa by William Cavestro that gives cultural conditions. 3. E-mail exchange with J&L. I looked at that thread Christie. I agreed that mine was sedum acre but it's not. It's sarmentosum. I also have some spurium in the front bed that has taken off from a small circle of it. Now it's about a 3 ft patch and spreading. Somebody wanted to know if you can walk on sedums and I wouldn't hesitate to walk on mine. I'd just be wondering how many snakes are under it! Glenda, I have the vinca major too, both varieties. My ground is normally so dry and full of shale that I didn't worry about anything being agressive until last year but they've certainly lived up to their reputations now. I have chameleon plant too and it's starting to spread after about 7 or 8 years. DH dug some up and threw them in the yard. I warned him that they will take hold even if they look dead.
