Bestlawn! I could have asked you over on KT! I had two lines; one I managed to delete, but I've fumbled around so much I cannot remember what I did! Yes, I think the enter/return is what seems to trigger it. When I try to select the line, a thin vertical highlight strip appears on the left above, through, and below the line, but it will not delete. I've spent the last 20-30 minutes trying to figure it out, searching "help." But it's no big problem, I can scroll it down to the blank page and not print that page. And now that I know how to draw lines w/o triggering the other line, I'll be ok. I suppose 2007 is ok when one gets used to it, but it sure takes up a lot of time getting to that point. It has a default of 1.5 spacing, which is not that good for me. Thanks...you're the "best!"

Is this computer YOUR OWN PERSONAL COMPUTER owned by YOU, or does it belong to your employer? If it belongs to the employer or is connected to the employers network, then your company's IT department may have rules about what CAN and CANNOT be installed on their network and on computers owned by them or used on their network. If this is the case, your should talk to whoever in your building is responsible for computer services and find out if they can assist. It may be that the network doesn't recognize you as someone authorized to install new programs.

I can tell you that Microsoft Office and Open Office are not 100% compatible. Depending on the complexity of the documents you use, you may need to spend some time "converting" them to an Open Office format. You also need to be concerned if you "share" any electronic documents with business associates that use Microsoft Office. Even though Open Office gives you the option of saving in an Microsoft Office, I've noticed some minor differences with documents created in Open Office and later opened in Microsoft Office. Since Open Office is a free download, there's no reason you can't try it and see how it works for you. As an aside, I think you'll find the user agreement for Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition prohibits commercial use. While it is highly unlikely that the Microsoft police will come knocking, it is something you should be aware of.

Google used to have a utility to sync Outlook to Gmail mail, calendar, contacts, etc (and then Google can be connected to Apple devices) but it pulled the plug a few years ago. When it did so, I stopped using Outlook, it didn't really add value for me. When using an internet connected PC, web access doesn't provide a significantly different user experience than using a local program anyway. This article might provide useful information. If I were you, I'd keep it simple to avoid problems. Can you get by with having your calendar on your PC and phone? You can always manually "sync" any two systems that offer export and import functions but I don't know if doing that regularly could result in duplication of entries. I guess you'd have to try it and see.
