Transferring saved emails from one inbox to another?

OE 6

XP sp3

I created a new email account and would like to transfer saved emails (several hundred) from my "personal" email inbox to this one. I know I can forward them but then the "from" heading shows my email and not who they are really from plus it is time consuming. I'd also like to switch address book contacts from my personal email account to this new one and don't know how.

Rather than try to transfer to another inbox, you could create a new folder within OE6 (rt click on Local Folders and left click on New Folder...name it with the old email account name or whatever). Move old inbox emails into this folder. Set your new email up in OE and receive new emails in the inbox. You do know that there is a limit on the number of emails you can keep in OE, don't you?

They are in a folder now but I'd like them to be in a folder with the new email address so when I reply to them they come from the new address and not my personal one. They aren't just sitting in my inbox.

Yes, I know there is a limit. I delete often and compact often as well.

I 'block' email addresses in Hotmail with no problem. In a nutshell, go to your Hotmail and click on Options in the upper right hand corner. Choose More options Under "Preventing junk email" choose Safe and blocked senders Fill in their email address in the "Blocked email address or domain:" box and click Add to list Viola! If you get another one before getting him blocked just check the box in front of his email (in the inbox list) and choose Sweep. Then choose Block from. Then choose Block all. Once you hit 'enter' you should get the message, "Okay, you've added securityupdate@suntrust.com to your block list." It sounds like you probably did not have the addy on your actual blocked sender list.

I've had messages like that. Delete. Let me assure you that the USPS, FedEx, UPS, or any other major carrier is NEVER EVER going to send you a email attempting to clarify delivery. First off, they likely don't even have your email address. Second, they really don't care that much or perhaps, more accurately don't have the time (read labor dollars) to clarify addresses. If the sender mis-addressed the package it's going back (it's the sender's responsibility to get it right, not the carrier's) or it's going to be delivered to the wrong address (remember it's the shipper's responsibility to get it right and the carrier gets paid either way).

The email might not be the best option, depending on your connection. If you reduce the file size of the picture, you reduce the quality of the image. They have really inexpensive USB drives out now. I bought a 1GB drive for $14. You just drag your pictures over until it is full, then drag them into your MyPictures folder on your new computer. It is reusable - just delete them off after you have them transfered and do it again until you are finished. A CD will hold less than a 1GB USB drive. Large USB drives are available. Hopefully you don't have thousands of pictures on your computer - I have 10's of thousands! Make sure you learn how to use your burner and back up your photos soon - hard drives fail, no matter how new the machine - you are on borrowed time if you do not backup your pictures, and it only takes a few minutes.

In Firefox, the boxes to be checked are located in Tools:Options:Privacy. In IE8 look at Tools:Internet Options:Privacy:Advanced: then click Override Automatic Cookie Handling and check the boxes desired. If you actually want to save this email and it's contents for a long time, then "saving it to the desktop" may not be what you really want to do. If this email ever gets deleted from your inbox what you're asking may or may not work. Why do you need to "save it to the desktop"?

I'm planning my high school reunion and I have emails saved from the previous two reunions with information in them that I need to have access to to read and reply to.

All this reunion planning is clogging up my personal email for friends and family so I set up a new email address to use just for reunion planning.

While I have that inbox open, I don't have access to folders that are associated with my personal address so I'd like to transfer them over somehow.

If I have to, I'll forward everything but I'm thinking there is another way.

If I wanted to do that, I would first open OE and make it a smaller window. Then I would create a new folder on the desktop and drag the emails in question into that folder. After that, I would open the new folder and drag the emails into the new inbox.

Tried that and it wouldn't work because too many emails had the same titles though they were from different times. Like when we went back and forth using the same subject. Different content but same title.

I could walk you through changing the Reply To address for entire account, but since you just want that for select emails...I have no ideas. Good luck!

I got it. Sheesh. All I had to do was Import them from the file menu.

I spent more time looking all over the Inet for the solution than it took to complete.
