OMG Diana Does it Again !

Well maybe our Diana can't count ( not that I'm complaining mind ya ) but she sure knows how to use a camera !! I'm now the proud, awed owner of a Diana Lundin Original !

And the nicest note from her explaining everything.

I had trouble just lifting the box up on the table ! And no wonder-- here's what made it so heavy .

My skimmer is totally different. So don't know if what I do would work for you. I know it works for me, but there will be bunches of people here on the forum that will disagree. I removed the door and in the slot where the door would go I put a piece of the black (coarsest) Matala mat Then I have 3 baskets that hold filter mats and then the pump is in the rear. My skimmer pulls anything that is floating in the pond and it catches in the Matala Mat, I just take it out and hose it off. I also take the baskets out with the other filter media and hose them off at least once a week sometimes more if I need to. With all the gunk I wash out of the mats, it has to be working. Then after the water goes through all this media it goes to the waterfall. I was having a problem with fish getting in the skimmer. And I actually cut a hole in the top of the skimmer so the frogs can get in there. A frog could never go through my pump and go through to the waterfall. My pump has a filter on it and nothing gets through there unless it is miniscule. And when I remove the baskets of filter media to wash it, I can see the bottom of the skimmer and if there was anything in there I could see it. Goldgirl, what a wonderful swap package! It's easy, at least for me, to get in a rut with dinner...your new cookbook will keep things interesting! I look forward to your post on what you try first. As for the candle holder...of course it's cooking related. That holder is stunning! With that as the centerpiece, the entire meal is "classed" up several notches. We're another beet loving family. Who knew so many people liked beets? I always thought we were just weird...well, maybe we are but not 'cause we like beets. And, raspberry jam...well, who doesn't love that. Great package, Diana! Enjoy all of the goodies, Sue. Tricia

Karen, try Horrocks on Saginaw Road in Lansing, they have just about every item of produce grown in Michigan and they always have habaneros. You might try a small local hispanic grocery too, I'm sure you have one somewhere in Kalamazoo. I'll bet Sherry would know too... I'd offer you some of mine, but mine are currently waiting while the apricots steep in vinegar so they can become Habanero Gold! If you do buy habs, just be aware that you can dice them and freeze them for more batches of jam later. Annie

Ok. To be the odd one out here, I just got a batch of mites, on one of my citrus, finally under control. With that large a concentration of "mites" on the back of leaves, there would be obvious webbing. The webbing will start on the back of the leaf, concentrating right where the petiole attaches to the leaf. Then the webbing will attach to the vine on the plant, right UNDER where the petiole attaches to the vine. Like this (pink): Mite damage leaves scaly, rough, thin patches on the undersides of leaves. The patches are usually a lighter green than the leaf underside, but can be white. Unless you look at the spots with a magnifying glass, or see one move (you CAN see them move, even without a magnifying glass). Tiny black spots are VERY common on the undersides of many hoyas, and NORMAL. When did you receive the plants? Was the weather cold? That, to me, looks like cold damage, root rot, or a nutrient issue. Regardless, check for bugs/mites.

what a fantastic picture. great job diana. i love it.

the butter almond thins are my all time favorites and i love the waffle cookies too. just the other day i was eyeing the grapefruit vinegar, didn't buy it because i wasn't sure what to do with it and the place was packed and the staff was so busy, i never asked. i'll be anxious to hear what you do with it.

excellent package. enjoy all three categories (not items LOL)

What an incredible photo. I would love to see it for real.

But what happened to 3 things? I feel like my swap partner is going to be so disappointed by my package. I had really wanted to go buy TJ's out but was afraid it wasn't legal. I did go high end instead but... And there's no incrdible work of art in my package either.

I've never seen a photo taken by Diana that isn't amazing, but that one is truly outstanding!

Diane, I know you're going to enjoy everything and how nice of you to share with Doc. (grin)

Diana, girl, you are a sweetheart and a premier photographer but I gotta tell you, you are really, really bad at counting. :-)

WOW!

Amazing swap box. Diana's photos are very special and something to cherish. Everything else is wonderful too.

Diana must have been so busy recently that she missed the theme of "Three Items". LOL!

Amazing photo! Diane you caught the very essence of the moment! Gorgeous!

With so much new stuff to use and taste, it is hard to say what I would do first. Ok, I'd probably look through the cookbook, while glancing at the photo and munching on Truffles, several varieties of cookies, chocolate-chocolate-chocolate and probably sipping a cup of Yogi Tea! ;))

Wonderful swap box Diana!

Enjoy!!!

Oh yikes, I see the chocolate didn't make it. I had to leave the package out in my car until my lunch hour when I could mail it and it was warm that day and... sorry.

Yes, my counting was off. I failed to read directions in a timely fashion. But hey, aren't we celebrating Diane's birthday?

Vicki and I went to Yosemite two weeks ago just to take that picture and we got really lucky... it only happens for two weeks a year, only when the conditions are perfect. We caught it.

Hey, I'm watching "The Wedding Bells" (funny show). Delta Burke just ate one of those almond butter cookies!

Happy birthday, partner!

Yo... you're too funny, Shaun. Thanks for quoting Randy.

So that cookbook... it's an anthology of great American recipes... I have about five or six volumes and love them. I love them so much, in my eagerness to get last year's, I accidentally ordered a second previous year (because they didn't have one last year). I made one recipe from the book I sent Diane when I realized, "Hey, wait a minute, I already have this book." So it doesn't really count. :)

Diana, thanks for the photo link. I have a good friend who grew up in Yosemite, his father was an employee of the Curry Co. He has lots of good stories including pushing over the burning logs from the staged firefalls. He will love this site.
