I kinda like the second one! My camera hates any sort of mauve red color, I have to take shot after shot.. then play around and see if I can get its settings to a point where im satisfied I wish I could afford to upgrade.. a friend has a nikon d5000, he basically points and clicks.. with a much better stablizer in it than my old konica dimage z2.. which at the time was a fine camera, one of the first optical intergrated zoom ones. But now, I sadly feel its getting behind the times, its only a 4 megapixal.. Silverkelt

Thanks Raven. I've spent some time looking at all of these and I'm not sure any of them will work for what I want. Lots of them capture video from Youtube, metacalfe, etc - but none of these mention capturing video from Hulu, or the major network's own sites. Two of them - video search and downloader and multimediawebrecorder might. At least their description and reviews don't rule out the possibility. And for the webrecorder one, folks mention it captures everything (of course, I don't know if they've tried the kind of shows I'm hoping to capture). So I've downloaded both and will experiment with them over the weekend. I already had downloadhelper - but it never helped with any of the sites I wanted. It has a long list of sites it works with - but there's no easy way to search other than scrolling through many, many sites- the majority of which mean nothing to me. Just doesn't seem very well organized - and it may just be outdated at this point. The MediaConvertor doesn't seem compatible with this latest version of Firefox. I'll report back if I have luck - but I'm not optimistic. Any other ideas still welcomed. Lynn.

I have a video capture card in my computer. Mine is a TV tuner card. You need a fast computer, and a large fast hard drive. For home movies that you want to keep, I STRONGLY suggest you get this done professionally. It's not as easy as hooking up a VCR to the computer and just start recording. There are problems to overcome. Dropped frames and out-of-sync audio are the two biggest. And if you are copying VHS tapes to DVD don't expect DVD quality. The quality is only as good as the input. If you input VHS quality in, you get VHS quality out, or worse. If you have a bunch of movies that you bought on VHS before DVD became popular and you are thinking of transferring these to DVD then forget it. Waste of time. Easier to just get a subscription to NetFlix and rent the DVD and copy it. Some people report great results with video capture devices. For me it has been a mixed bag of results.
