WANTED: Maggie..didn't miss a thing...

I got my box...I got my box....a big ol box....I was in the garage with my Schwans guy..when the mail lady pulled in behind him...LOL trapped...she came up the drive ackwardly with a huge box....

I knew what it was...but I didn't tell him..I ordered, and said meet you in the kitchen.....

Dave left..and I got the scissors and started snipping and clipping, and pulling things apart..BTW Maggie, thanks for all the great "unused" tissue paper!!!! I can use it in my swap box to **********. :o)

Okay so here's the contents...........

Goodies are...A Rick Bayless Enchilada Pan with wire rack. Gorgeous..might stay out on the counter as a fruit bowl!!!!! lol Inside the pan is an adorable lidded crock..ADORABLE!!! and then the funnest part ever...The bird feeder..the pineapple bird feeder..Maggie says she's a pineapple nut and has them all over her house...she remembered that my birds are near and dear to me...so she went out on a limb(I mean whim) and included it!!!

I so so so soooooo love it...It'll go out in a few minutes...Hope the birds love it as much as I do!

Thanks Maggie..It's all perfectly wonderful!

wow, wow wow!!! Those are gorgeous - That's what I want - nice serving pieces - and my kitchen accent is RED - maggie, you sent them to the wrong place! lol

Hi All, We were sorry to miss the GE this month, I have been out of town for a family emergency, and Joe ended up coming to help, too. I hope we do have another one later this spring! We will bring more lilacs (if anyone wants them), cookies, and anything else we can come up with. Thanks again to all of you for the wonderful plants you gave us, they are starting to come up, and we are very excited! We just got back, and for me, after being gone most of a month, a high priority was to wander around and see what's coming up. Joe came too and asked what things are, and I said I can't remember too many times. But I have notes, so we'll figure it out. When they get bigger I'll be dividing them and bringing starts to future GEs. I don't know much about propogating yet, how did you all learn? Thanks & best wishes, Laura (and Joe)

I will not miss the heliconias I planted which throw up new plants but never flower, or the pine cone ginger that takes over every summer but leaves a bare spot where nithing else will grow in the winter. Canna lilies which wander wherever they want. The lemon grass and ornamental grasse in my supposedly zero scaped front yard which pop up worse than the weeds. Potato vine and others like virginia creeper vines (that is the vine a previous poster posted a picture of, the one with 5 leaves) anyway, my 2 cents worth Dave

I second bmrbabe's technique of taking a picture of the project, then tossing the project itself. I did this when I was in art school. The space-eating school project was gone, but in case I ever needed to prove I did it, I had photo evidence. TS, one of the things that helped me the most when digging out of my clutter was to establish a regular Goodwill run. I stopped in at my local thrift store as part of my errands every Saturday. It didn't really take that long. From what you've said in other threads, it doesn't sound like there are many thrift stores where you live--but have you considered taking a bag with you to work? There are quite a few thrift stores in midtown Manhattan--just check your phone book. It's easier to itemize, too, if your donation isn't large. Those grocery-bag donations every Saturday added up to quite a lot of clutter gone from my apartment and a big break at tax time. Concretenprimroses, with overcoming the inertia, I've found it helps to have a goal. Like, "Work is having a dress clothes drive for Dress For Success (or the Cinderella Project or Materials for the Arts--find a charity that inspires you!). What can I find in my closet--and what can I inspire my family members to donate--for this worthy cause?" It also helps to relate the cause to moments in your life when you needed help, or someone you know needed help. I also try to keep an ear out for those around me. One of my friends still thanks me and my former roommate for giving her our stash of ugly-to-us blankets when she was broke and cold after moving to NYC from Kentucky. Anybody have a stash of Beanie Babies? Halloween is coming and those things make great Halloween giveaways!

I was thinking yesterday--life hasn't changed YET. Church: I go to adoration on my way to work and find Father saying Mass--telecasting on Facebook and stayed so, so far that is all same same. This Sunday it won't be. DH goes to work as usual, I do to--my 'work' has changed as students are 'on line' but still. Card group is cancelled..we take our walks as weather permits as usual.DH's compound bow league has been on until this coming week but it was near the last weeks anyway. Our offspring all live in other States. They all continue to work--DD#1 is working from home managing her counties website. DD#2 is working on a treatment in her laboratory for this virus. The cows are peculating--it's about three weeks out yet. Son like father is doing his engineering thing...I think those of us who are not movers and shakers who are home bodies are really not as affected. I shop once a week. Will go this morning at 6 as usual..will get what I can. Yesterday shopping the local walmart for students, what I saw says I will be able to get what I want--milk/fresh vegis/fruit. I buy sales so have a freezer full of meat and staples. Stay calm enjoy being out of the rat race. Life here in the quiet simpler lives is really not so bad.

I want pictures of the bird feeder outside, in action. Then I want to see pictures of the enchilada pan with bird feeder bird enchiladas.

That crock is indeed adorable. Whatcha going to do with it?

Beautiful red serving pieces! I'm not sure...is the feeder an actual pineapple? Hollowed out to hold birdseed? Then the birds can eat away at the pineapple too?

I am so relieved everything arrived in one piece. So glad you like everything:)

The pineapple is the symbol of hospitality. I hesitated and am so glad you like it. Red is my favorite color and Terri has paprika in her backsplash so that worked out great!

Very Nice. The pineapple really caught my eye. I had to read to figure out what it was. That is probably the nicest Bird feeder I've seen. Is it carved from wood?

Love the red casserole and lidded crock. Can't wait to see what Terri cooks.

terri, just wonderful items you received from maggie. i have many birds to my yard and have all types of feeders, but certainly nothing like the pineapple. i do in fact love the casserole dish and love that it comes with a rack, but i love the lidded bowl so many uses and add me as another who just loves the color. by the way, what is the capacity to the lidded bowl?

Ann, It is resin..but a real one..that's a good idea...
Maryanne, I'm guessing the lidded crock will hold about 2 cups, maybe 3.

Oh I love the pineapple! It looks so real (but not very juicy). And the covered crock (too cute for words)& enchilada pan with holder are just fabulous. I love that deep, rich red. Lovely stuff.

I would definitely put the enchilada pan to good use, and I love the red crock! I really love that shade of red for dishes and pans.

As for the bird feeder, personally I would not give it to the birds (they don't need feeding here anyway) - but I can think of other ways to use it. I would probably put candy in it. Anyway, I think it's too nice to put outside, and I would want to keep it indoors.
