good job reglazing in milwaukee area

Can anyone suggest a reputable place in the Milwaukee land area to refinish an old porcelain sink? Would prefer to have it re-porcelained, but cannot find anyone to do that. If you have had a good experience with a particular business in this area that does re-glazing, please recommend them to me. Thank you!

I used Perma Glaze in Eau Claire and they did a spectacular job on my old pedestal sink. They are a franchise, so I'd bet there is one in your area, too.

The sink looks beautiful! How long ago did you get it done? Do you use that sink a lot and do you know the process that Perma Glaze uses? Does the finish get baked on at a high temp?

Don, with all your great input, one thing puzzles me. You still assume that OFM is an equal problem everywhere east of the Missisippi. I have posted many times that in all the orchards I manage, which includes hundreds of peach trees in about a 100 mile radius, consisting of southeast NY, and a wide range of CT, OFM is usually just a minor problem once you've dispatched of plum curculio with pedal fall and first cover spray around mid-spring. Most sites the OFM damage is negligible even on growing shoots and never in 20 years has it been an issue in fruit that is given the aforementioned sprays in orchards I manage. David, I wouldn't start growing nectarines unless you've already succeeded with peaches and want to try something more difficult. Controlling insects probably won't be harder than for apples up there, but cracking and brown rot probably will be. I have one variety that I've grown for years that always cracks but most years I can get a crop with several applications of Indar. Last year I harvested a few fruit from a very young Summer Beaut that had no cracks in spite of lots of rain. The fruit was great so I have a young Redgold that I left a few fruit on this year and if they don't crack I may put it in my own orchard also(I have a bearing age fruit tree nursery). Red Gold is said to be crack resistant and very high quality. Expect to have to work harder to keep brown rot from destroying the fruit of any variety of nectarine. Well, you're going to be driving right by the Chicago Botanic Garden - in the understatement of the day, that's worth a stop!!! You could spend 2 days exploring there but can also do a rather quick tour. If you go, don't miss the Japanese gardens if you're looking for serenity and mind clearing. My son went to school at Marquette in Milwaukee but I never made it to the gardens when he was there. Their art museum on the lake, however is not to be missed. Question about bathtub reglazing

Well, I'm new to this bathroom renovation stuff, being a first time homeowner who's never had to replace a tub before - but I thought replacing the tub generally meant you had to replace the tile surround also, because that would get damaged? And in this older house, most likely there would be some re-plumbing to be done. (At the very least it seems any fixture we've replaced has necessitated a replacement shutoff valve because the old one didn't work anymore). Not to mention that we don't have an access panel to the plumbing because someone patched the wall behind it. Is it possible to replace a tub and keep the tile intact? I worry about how if it's even possible to get a tub in through the fairly narrow doorway and maybe this is the same tub since the house was built in 1945! On the other hand...our tile definitely needs to be replaced, both from an aesthetic viewpoint and a functional one. The ones in the tub area aren't in bad shape but those same tiles go all around the bathroom and there are several cracks in them. My thought was that if I could get a reglazed tub to last five years, hopefully I'd have the money to rip everything out and re-do it by the time the tub reglazing was shot. But if it is possible to replace the tub without too much expense, I'd definitely consider doing that and waiting to replace the hideous tile! I'm a little leery of the home kits for reglazing. The pros use some pretty powerful chemicals to etch the old surface and get the new one to adhere. I suspect the home reglazing kits are more like painting your tub and would peel much more quickly.

Stew - High end has to do with extrusion methods used for the frames of vinyl windows - low end will be flimsy - high end will be stout. The higher end units do a FAR better job on air infiltration and other insulating factors. Sunrise (Restorations and Vanguard) as well as Okna 800's are both high end mfr's. As the other poster said...Brandon at HomeSealed would serve you well. He will certainly educate you on all window aspects!

Good Morning, Quiltgirl. We woke up to a bit of snow this morning. Very pretty, but cold!

We had the sink done 10 years ago, and we use it everyday. It's in the powder room right off the kitchen. We have 7 grandchildren who are not gentle with it. I think dolls have taken baths and boats have been floated in this sink. It looks as good today as it did when first done. If I remember right, the cost to do the sink and pedestal was around $230. I couldn't be more pleased. I'm not really sure what the process is, but here's the link.

Quiltgirl, you may want to contact 21st Century Tile in Butler ... they may have a recommendation for you if Joyce's company doesn't work out for you.

Still looking for a durable porcelain application for my antique kitchen sink. I did try 21 st Century Tile wi-sailorgirl, but they did not know of a source. Any help in locating a reputable place will be greatly appreciated! Thank you Joyce 6333 for your information on the place in Eau Claire. That is quite a distance from us, but do-able if I cannot find any place closer. We are on the Wisconsin Illinois border. Did you take your sink to them or did they come to your house? I called Perma Glaze in Milwaukee, but got a private residence, so am thinking they are out of business.

Hi Quiltgirl..he did offer to come and pick up the sink, and deliver it, but it wasn't a problem for me to take it to him, which I did. Maybe you could call the guy in Eau Claire and ask him for a reference closer to your area?

Thank you for the info Joyce. I will call Eau Claire and ask about their process. Just talked to a business in Illinois who uses a 14 step German process to refinish the sink. The company is called Aarco and they have a website as well. He will come to house and do it. He will not do kitchen sinks because he says it will not stand up to heavy pots and pans etc. Since this sink is going into a laundry room and not getting that type of use, He thought it would be fine. I would like to get some feedback on his company and process before I proceed. The sink is a single shallow sink with a drainboard on each side. It weighs a ton and takes two to three guys to lift and set in place. For that reason alone, it would be nice to have it done in house so to speak.
