Just browsing around tonight and noticed there were computer forums here. I use AOL thought I would tell you it can be done as I have tried this and it works fine. Read the link I posted and it will tell you what program to download. It's for gmail but when you install it you will have the option to pick AOL from the list. and that's it. Then when you are online and click somewhere to email a site it will bring up a filled in AOL mail form from aol.com. I am guessing though you have to make sure you leave aol.com logged in all the time and do not sign out. I was helping someone once make yahoo.com the default mail in firefox by using the malto code or what ever it is and stumbled upon this so thought I would try it and file it away for reference in case someone needed to know that. I'm using Mozilla's ThunderBird and like it. (It was written by the same crew who wrote the original Netscape and has features similar to Netscape.) ThunderBird is available as free a download, but you are on your own for installation and setup. However, instructions are avialble. Once the parameters are set, it runs as well as any others and will interface with a spell checker. You can download email from more than one ISP after setting up a profile for each ISP.

I use the mail tile on the "start" page. I have it set up with my email account thru the service provider, ie. @cox.net. I can go to my email account thru the browser, just like the 2 gmail accounts I have. I guess that would mean the settings in Control Panel need to be set to use my provider account. Ok, that gives me a place to set my feet to find out what I need to do. I recall that I set both my hubby's email accounts up thru the tile on start menu, as I did my own. I guess that is the default I need to set. The provider. I'll have to go look it over again, thanks so much for your help. I'm still learning the Win8 and it's way different from Xp and Vista. Huh? No, the question is what email service is the native email program (Apple Mail, in this case on a Mac) set up to connect to. That setting needs to be entered once for every so-called mail "client" app or program on a PC, Smartphone, or tablet. It has nothing to do with default program relationships for file types. Ginny, I know how to do it on ipads and iphones but not immediately on Macs. I have two Macs in the family but neither is here right now for me to look at. A Google search found the following two approaches, they differ perhaps depending on which version of Apple Mail you have. But either or a combination of the two should get you where you want to be. If these don't work, again, refer to an Apple forum. #1 To Set Up Your Apple Mail From the Mail menu, select Preferences. Go to the Accounts tab, and then click the plus sign(+) at the bottom of the Accounts box. In the Add Account window, enter your full name, email address and email password. Click Continue. or #2 To begin, click on the Mail -> Add Account... menu. On this screen, you will be asked about the type of account you will be adding to the application. Select the last option - Add Other Mail Account...Continue button. Now, simply add your name, email address and the password for it. ++++++++++++++++++++ Edited to add As a quick alternative, just start your browser (Safari), go to and log into gmail, compose a new message and then add the photo as an attachment. You'll need to know the location of the photo on the PC to do that and you probably can do a drag and drop for attaching it.
