Coho, I posted on the other thread before I saw this. Several years ago, I purchased a computer that had Norton installed. I could not burn a DVD on that computer until after I removed every trace of Norton. When I called Tech support at Norton, they told me that it was a known problem, and sent me a refund check. That was many years ago however, and I wouldn't think they would still be having that problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. Downloaded ImgBurn at MajorGeeks. It took 30 min. to burn what Win7 DVD Maker took 2 hours to do. No wonder it had a high rating. Did have to type in folder paths. Rebooted to try the new DVD. And waited, and waited, for the directory to appear. Explorer had froze and had to use Task Manager to exit. (same problem with the DVD burned with WinDVDMaker) So my problem semms to be the DVD drive in this laptop. It plays a movie A-OK. But a DVD full of .jpg files it does not like???? (HP Pavilion dv4-2153d Notebook). Guess I need to try a CD and see if less content makes a difference?

There is a good chance your Nero software will not work in the new computer. The reason being much of the software provided with any piece of hardware is coded to be specific to that brand only. I found that out the hard way but overcame it be installing the free Deep Burner. Not sure if Deep Burner is Vista ready yet or not.
