Thanks cboy. I know he uses metalink as an isp- By Internet do you mean his browser? I have written to him but he hasn't answered. I don't know what security he uses, except for Norton. Maybe he has a Trojan that Norton doesn't find or get rid of.

My friend uses metalink for internet service and his browser is Google. He says he is still receiving the same email over and over. Do you think it is an ISP problem or some setting that he needs to change. Just blocking people wouldn't work since it is all email that comes in many times over. I wish I could remember how I solved my own problem like his. Thanks for any help.

Email programs have configuration settings and some if not all of them have one to leave a copy on the email on the server. Sounds like he has that option enabled.

I didn't have this same problem exactly, I learned the (hard) best way to stop problems with spam and not have to worry about emails taking over my computer was to abandon that email address and not use Outlook express (these take up space on your machine) or download emails from your ISP....use Gmail.....this way you can continue to use it from another computer, even when your ISP is down or you change ISP...and "oh yeah, he said if anyone asked, a technician with Windstream didn't tell me to do it" ;O

I do believe it is an isp problem. I have had it happen to me, but never that many copies of an e-mail, more like 10-20. It usually just cleared up itself. I would call my isp about the problem.
