Hi everyone. I am relatively new to these boards and am looking for suggestions for flooring for a front porch. The porch will be covered, extending the entire front of the house. The front door is centered. There is currently a concrete slab in place that has shifted and must be removed, drains placed, landscaped/graded. We were planning another concrete slab but I do not want a floor that looks like a driveway and my husband does not want any type of wood flooring. What are my options? Stamped concrete? Pavers over the slab? Tile over the slab? (please be as specific as possible with respect to the type of stone or tile) What is most cost-effective? It will be about 34'X 8' or possibly 10' Thank you so much for your input.

Thanks!! I had read horror stories of new growth T&G Doug Fir flooring warping/cupping and rotting out within ten years. That's why I'm so gun-shy about pulling the trigger. I don't want to have to have this front porch professionally redone anytime in the near future. Sarah

No drain holes does not sound good. I am going make the holes larger on mine because a large area of my deck holds water because the holes get clogged. Everything I can think of to protect the flooring would/could cause other problems. Sorry

I've had basic tiles mortared to my courtyard slab for almost 20 years now. cheapest ceramic tiles ever, but heck, those things have lasted! They aren't slippery when wet which is a must. they are a matte type of finish w/a texture to them. I so want to redo this w/something that looks better, but it's a huge job to tear all of this out. I'm also tempted to go on top of it! instead of doing a porcelain, why not look into a natural slate tile? look in my first picture. see the other tiles on the face of the pond? those are slate. They have a natural texture to them, do not get slippery and are inexpensive. they come in a ton of colors and shapes. montauk blue slate Or, do a porcelain that looks like slate or limestone Either of these looks will always be in style. Unless, you are dead set on doing the wood look tile? You'd have to find one w/the ridges and texture, and a matte finish. I know they do make the wood look tiles in a slip resistant matte finish for exterior applications. I'm sure any good tile store would carry them.
