Android phone question

I know on our home computers we scan for viruses and malware. How or what is recommended for Android phones? I have anti-virus on my phone already.

About the best program for android is Lookout security, Avast also has a pretty decent one. Since Android is Linux it is less prone to infections but certainly not exempt.
They can both be found in the Google Play or Amazon app store for free.

Lookout security does scan any new app that you download to your phone. It sends me a report weekly via e-mail.

The generic method of deleting apps on android is go to the settings, then apps, all apps tab, scroll down to find the app name, select it then in the options select uninstall, ok, done. Installing the pay version on most will not affect the free version. Edit to say in some devices you can fully remove an app by going to it in the full list of apps from home screen and hold long press, the option to uninstall will appear. Now if you just long press on the icon showing up on a home screen that will only give you the ability to move it around or slide it to the top edge to remove the icon only. Actually, every prepaid phone I've dealt with you have to start with a "new" number on the prepaid phone. You can then port a different number to it if you want. Tip: If using Tracfone, activate the phone online and you'll get a few extra minutes. They may still have the thing going where you can get a few minutes too for registering an email address against the phone. Look for bonus codes to add minutes or time when adding time. You can get a lot more minutes for your money. And a double minutes for life card is about $25 if your phone doesn't have that on it.

I can imagine the frustration some are have because of the function problems. I just did a check in the Test forum and had no issue, I'm using a PC and Chrome. [Link to Test Forum[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/test-forum-dsbr0-bd~t_3141) The "different browser, or different hardware, or both" suggestion should fix most immediate problems. Otherwise, patience may be required. It's the weekend and unless they're in fire drill mode, likely nothing is happening just now. Anyone having ongoing issues should send an email to the support address with details of the hardware and browsers not functioning normally.

I use the T-mobile antivirus, but was wondering more about malware and or spyware?

Last year, Google's manager of the Android effort said the following:

"Virus companies are playing on your fears to try to sell you BS protection software for Android, RIM, and, iOS," DiBona said on Google+. "They are charlatans and scammers. If you work for a company selling virus protection for Android, RIM or iOS, you should be ashamed of yourself."

I don't know what the consensus view is today. It's one of those areas with divided opinions. The danger seems to be most prevalent with apps. As with PC use, if you stay with mainstream programs and go only to mainstream websites, you're unlikely to have any problems. I don't use security software on my Android phone and I don't worry about it. Maybe I should?
