Adele gave me something long and hard and....spotted?

Well, you can guess where this package was going, LOL.

ThatÂs a ÂTurkey Cannon'. ItÂs the first category for my box Â ÂBBQ cooking methodÂ because Adele (Catlover) knows that I like to grill, and I like beer can chicken. My DH HATES beer can chicken because itÂs such a PITA to take the chicken off the can Â messy and dangerous. This little gizmo is easier because you fill it with liquid, and the bird slides over the cylinder easier than onto an OB/GYNÂs speculum.

HereÂs the box (ya think they use only female birds to model?):

The ÂSpotted DickÂ description is coming. Bada bing.

AdeleÂs second category was ÂGlassÂ. She picked up that we collect art glass Â and this piece will be added to our collection! Brave woman for walking into that type of shop, eh Linda? It matches my kitchen to perfection and I donÂt think IÂll be giving it to DH for his display case. MINE, hubs.

Third category was ÂEthnicÂ Â which Adele said was hard to do because, as her kids explained, we are ALL ethnic. How true! But she had to find a way to fit in ÂSpotted DickÂ (oooh sorry) because it was just soÂ..well, you know. So she picked British, and included two tins of citrus flavored biscuits which again are mine, all mine.

Adele, thank you, we opened your box at our FAMILY SABBATH TABLE with my in-laws in attendance and we thoroughly enjoyed the laugh. Oh the kids rolled their eyes. They know me too well! What kind of a mother am I?

HmmmmÂ..now what liquid will go into that Turkey Cannon first? Any suggestions? Wait, I have to invite guests firstÂ.who is among my most prudish of friendsÂ.gotta get that

OMG ROTFLMAO & PIMP! That picture on the box and the speculum comment were too much! Adele you did a great job of nailing EJ and you know Jessy is going to love using it all!

What a perfect swap package for Ms. J! It appeals to all her ever so slightly perverted tendencies. (actually, that cannon does look pretty handy even if the picture is disturbing)

I had a friend who confided to me that she was cheating on her husband and having an affair with another married man. Actually my friend had casually told me that this guy was hitting on her and then my friend and I went golfing one day and the guy came out of the woods and joined us--I was the cover for their meeting and it made me really mad that I was used like that. I told my friend what I thought of her affair--that she was married and had to honor her vows while she was married and if she wanted someone else she should get divorced before she pursued that action. I also told her that I would not be used to facilitate the affair and that I would not be social with her while this was going on because I could not face her husband in a social situation under those circumstances--I would not help her live the lie so to speak. I was cordial to her when we met in public, and our kids could still see each other, but that was it. And of course our kids stopped seeing each other as much because I didn't want to see her as long as this was hanging over her head and my head. Of course she didn't end the affair and her huband found out and they got divorced, and she did not live happily ever because her lover didn't want to leave his wife and marry her, but that's another story. It was wrong of your friend to give you TMI. If the TMI is not something you agree with, your friendship does not obligate you to support or facilitate whatever she is doing.

I can't say that you're getting good advice on the sink issue until you answer another question or two...do you have a "real" master bath with two sinks? And did you cap off the plumbing but leave it accessable in your daughters bath? If you answered yes to both, leave the long counter. You don't have to plan for a family that does not live in your home and two sinks in a one person bathroom is rediculous (I've had it...it's awful). IF you capped off you can advertise it's ready for two sinks when you sell if you want, but don't cut a hole without knowing if it's necessary. If you don't have a real master bath you've probably made a mistake giving it to your daughter and you should plan on making a real one when you move...but again, why do it now? It's an easy fix later. Someone mentioned whispy or gauzie for the window. IMO it's absolutely necessary. If you put in a bamboo shade you've added some texture but it's still a hard texture and your bath is far too high on hard textures and way way low on soft textures and the beach is all about softness. White for your towels and mats...keep it easy and soft (again because it's missing) go fluffy on those mats...fun and fluffy. I wish I had a pic but in my condo appt I went with a color very near your color and loved it. One thing I did to soften the big mirror was to use a bunch of picture frames on the mirror painted in a shabby chic type of white. (does that make sense?) They were all cheap picture frames, but mostly bulky frames, with the pics removed and then I velcroed (double stick velcro in white) the frames to the mirror, with a big one over the sink and the balance scattered around. You'd be amazed how the harsh lines of the wall mirror disapear in the debth of the framed pieces. I am with most in that I don't like the lights, but their placement isn't the issue, it's the harshness of the fixtures themselves...but that's an easy fix if you soften up the rest of the room with texture. Fluffy white mats, towels, white frames on the mirror, a soft breezy gauzy window covering (which could be done over a grass cloth shade if you want more privacy) and some lovely counter accessories (candles and sand, grasses etc) would really make the room sing, and fix all of your issues (IMO) I'd consider doing the gauzy covering by tacking the gauze to a whispy piece of thin beach wood for the curtain rod, and then hot glue sea shells or sand dollars or star fish every five or six inches as if they were holding up the gauze... A collection of antique perfume spritzers would be a lovely accessory to bridge your tween into teen.

Hi melle, No luck finding any of our needed pieces in the "As Is" section of IKEA Burbank, Covina or Costa Mesa CA. It was worth a shot. I decided to buy the cheapest piece in the new "birch" color for testing; a drawer front. I bought a 39 cent Trial Sample of Varathane Brand Stain (Natural #203) at my local hardware store. I sanded the right half of the drawer front down to the natural wood and left the other side alone for comparison. I stained the sanded half with the Natural #203 and I have to tell you I am amazed at how close it matches. Not sure how the mid veneer section will look stained though. Now I have to decide whether I will proceed and sand the 2 actual doors (which are the only 2 things I have left of this project) -or- bag the idea and go with aluminum framed frosted glass. Decisions, decisions.

I clicked on the video of Hello when it was posted on FB back at the album launch. Got impatient watching her noodling around driving, making tea, and then gave up after a moment or two of the song. It just didn't move me, someone belting out a Power Ballad. And that's all I know about Adele. Oh, I also tried to listen to the vocal track from SNL that's all over the interwebs, and got bored with that after a moment as well.

Ooops forgot to include this link about the 'Spotted Dick'. I'm going to serve it for breakfast! I think my kids are going to fight over who gets to keep the empty can.... DS #1 just got a video camcorder and he may (or may not) want to pull a few pranks of his own on his friends....

Great package, perfect for Jessy and her family Sabbath dinner!! Shame you cannot send frozen things easily as the British also sell frozen faggots. They are meatballs in gravy (or so says my British DH).

May - I went out on a frigid day to look around. I was looking for BBQ stuff since I knew Jessy liked to grill. The "cannon" jumped out at me. I little while later in a different store the spotted dick "spoke to me."

I was looking for cobalt blue glass or dichroic glass and failed! I hope the vase works. I just liked it.

I am just really glad that everything arrived intact. I am also a terrible packer and put off doing it.

OMG....at the Sabbath Table! My MIL would have giggled and joined in on the fun and but my BIL and his wife....I can just see the eye rolling and them both muttering "shiksa" if I ever did anything like this! TOO FUNNY...ROTFL!! And too top it off, I just had my yearly exam yesterday which is all to fresh in my mind! OUCH!!

Great job Adele, you could not have done a better job. Would love to try the English Biscuits!

Jessica, I doubt if I will ever look at a grill the same again.

Oh my word! I would find this funnier, but I just recently had my yearly physical...including a PAP smear. I know, way more information than you wanted to know.....

Diana: I don't know. DS #1 took the can and hid it in his room. He just got a video cam for his computer so I suspect he's doing rude things with it with his own on-line friends. Hey, if I can, he can too. What have I taught my kids. Sigh. And grin.

So THIS is what the turkey cannon is! I saw the pictures of the chickie on the grill over on the Discussions side and couldn't figure out what it was!

What a hoot! Adele definitely gets the prize for perfect swap. Jessy, you deserve every bit of this package! LOL at the opening ceremony--I don't know how that would have gone over at my house!

If you haven't seen the pix of her chickie on the barbie--you have to see the bikini shot. It's hilarious!
