Hmm  You can use silicone caulking to adhere them to the top of a concrete stand, like for a bird bath or gazing ball, and make a little table. You can put little feet on them, and use them as low risers for pots you can break them up for mosaic work (IÂm thinking of the thinner Âsheathing slabs that are common today, not the 1.5" thick stuff my folks has) or sheath a cinderblock, or add them to a bench, or use them as a Âsplash surface under a drain spout. if youÂre determined, you can drill a hole in the center, along with irregular Âflat stones, and arrange them in a pyramid shape, either Âdry (on a length of rebar driven into the ground) or as part of a fountain (run the water hose up through the holes) but thatÂs maybe better done by the guys who cut the slabs for you in the first place.

Semi- We also paid for the slabs directly...same as kaysd. dedtired- Unless you can think of a way to use the travertine, I think Craig's list is a great idea. I never have bought or sold anything on Craig's list, but so many others use it....another great idea! kaysd- The reason our counters curve around is because that area use to be a bumped-out breakfast nook. The peninsula use to come straight out like they usually do, only it came out right into where the refridgerator is. We couldn't even open our fridge door all the way. So this was a way to enlarge the floor space of the kitchen. Our peninsula is 8 ft. long by 3 ft wide. I didn't think it was going to be very large, but it seems massive to me. KA:)

Welcome bluekitobsessed from the kitchen forum! I'm doing my kitchen and nearby powder room at the same time. This forum will give you some great advice, just not as quickly as the kitchen forum. Maybe fewer are TBO than TKO. No, there is no finished bathroom blog or FAQ section, unfortunately. The width of your granite could be a problem - 20" is shallow as cindy_socal stated. Maybe you can use one as a 4" backsplash (or larger!) paired with one on the counter and close the gap on the back side of the sink. Not sure how successful you could be with that, but possibly....it's gorgeous stone!!!

These are some great ideas ... to be clear, I can paint the cabinets no problem (have experience and appropriate equipment), but I have resisted over the past couple of years because we had higher priority things to get done in the house. We're getting past those now, so have time to go back and tweek. I like idea of crown on the uppers. Removing the cab over the sink is problematic ...it has an LED under it that is really important to the sink function ... will have to look and see if I can pull it, route the wiring into the ceiling and then back down into another dangly fixture that could match whatever ends up being over the island? Funny thing ... taking photos and then studying them actually helps ME! The fan is ugly ... but it is a wonderful thing ...maybe paint it white to match ceiling? (we did this to two fans in this house and two in another ...makes them sort of disappear). We replaced two in another house with dark brown ones to hook up with the dark woodwork ... it looks good, too. We'll look at replacing the glass on the two dangly lights ...it does need some contrast from the white ... since they don't do much, anyway, perhaps industrial stainless, dark gray, red or black?
