Where did 'search' go????

My computer crashed and I think, windows 7 was installed. I simply cannot find the "search" box that used to be on my computer with the "puppy" that wagged his tail while searching for your file. I don't even see a search box when I hit the start button. I need to find some old excell files on my harddrive and I cannot locate them. Can anyone help me? P.K.

Click Start and the cursor is already blinking in the search window immediately above the Start button. Just start typing your query

There is no "start" to click, not that I can find~~ I have looked for 15 min. What else can I do? Thanks so much, PK

It looks like they have a limit on archived postings. Let's hope someone copied it and saved it. Also, I don't think a search will help you -- some of us have complained via "contact us" link that nowadays a search of rose forum discussions only provides results from the off-topic rose conversations side.

It probably WAS missing yesterday, Mara. Yesterday, I had just responded to one post. Went to another & I could type a response in the box, but there was no submit button! After it came back (several minutes later), I noticed the other things that were missing (the whole line of options under the typing box). Makes you wonder about your sanity while it's happening!

The 'Start' button on your XP has been replaced in Windows 7 by that circle with the MS logo on in the bottom left corner of your screen. Click that - unless you have greater problems. If it is not visible then run your mouse to the bottom of the screen to see if your taskbar has become hidden, it should rise as you hover over the bottom of the screen.

I found the start button right abouve the MSN thing, but when I click it, it does not take me anywhere or show me anything to do a search with..... PK

Go here and look at the first image, in the white space right at the bottom just below 'All programs' it says 'Search folders and files' Click to activate the cursor and start typing, the search is automatic

There is NO search box anywhere on the screen, I guess I will just give up, thanks so much for all your help, PK

Go to Control Panel>Programs>Turn Windows Features On or Off....see if Windows Search has a check mark.
