Alert: Fake Adobe Flash

RC, one of your links said to look for these......
"install_flash_player.exe" and "install_flash.exe"

I did a search on my C drive for both and found neither.

My FF extensions does show this as the latest entry:
"Adobe DLM (powered by GetPlus(R)) 1,6,2,44
A GetPlusR download-,upload-And Installation Manager is a sophistocated tool for an efficient distribution of digital goods."

My Plugins show this for the latest entry:
"getPlusPlus for Adobe 16244 1.6.2.44"

Now I recall yesterday morning, as I was working in Excel, suddenly my mouse was acting up...would highlight when I was trying to type, wouldn't switch from caps and lower case, etc. I rebooted and all was fine...except I was prompted to download the newest update for Firefox. I didn't do it at that time. Last night I decided I'd do "check for updates" for FF. It said there was one so I said to download it. Just afterward, the Adobe Flash prompt popped up so I thought it was connected to the FF update.

However, I did not allow access to the internet for the Adobe PlusPlus request via Zone Alarm.

My daily AVG didn't catch anything this morning (and I see from Virus Total's list that it might not). I ran Malwarebytes yesterday after the computer acted funny and it was negative. Is there an online scan for Firefox browsers?

if it is not showing up in your firefox extensions/addons like mentioned in the link then you should be ok. This may be something new, I know they were going to add some new stuff to firefox which would check for and let you know when you needed certain updates not sure this is connected.

I personally have not heard of the plusplus and google does not provide much info either.
Maybe someone else has had some encounters with it and can chime in.
I will ask around too.

http://platformdl.adobe.com/NOS/getPlusPlus/1.6/gp.xpi is the installer for Adobe Flash.

The direct download links are as follows:

It is recommended that you first go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the old version(s) of Adobe Flash. There is also an uninstaller of the old version of Adobe Flash Player at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Thank you RC and Corrine! I appreciate your responses. If I am understanding correctly, this is a legitimate program and should go forward with it?

It is Mcafee Security Plus Scan, if you don't click off the checkmark, it will download it. It is similar to Norton Security Scan. It takes up alot of memory. You have to uninstall then install again.
