Our finished master bathroom!

This bathroom is part of a two-story addition. Thanks to everyone who participated in this forum, gave me ideas and answered questions. Because of you, we went over budget. But also because of you, our bathroom is fantastic (in our opinion!)

The shower door was installed yesterday. There are still a few things to be done - hanging art, removing the pile of "extra parts" that has grown on the vanity, but I thought it was time to show it off. I'll be posting the other rooms on the remodeling side in a few days if anyone's interested.

How wonderful - the bathtub looks like it's calling your name. The room is very lovely! Congratulations.

Looks great! Bet you're happy to have it finished and I love that you blamed this board for going over budget (I think I'll do the same!)

So how long did the whole process take? What's your favorite part? Have you used it yet? Worth the time/money/anguish?

Looking forward to seeing the rest of the remodel.

Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor.

"It's been suggested by folks on the Smaller Homes forum that I cushion it with pillows and use it for reading and lounging." moccasinlanding I had to laugh at that. My teenage daughter takes a pillow and a book and sits in the tub. The tub is a Kohler devonshire. We had to get the tub early to make it easier to get it into the space before finshed walls. I was in a plumbing store and looked at jetted tubs. I was told that the devonshire was the most popular because it fits in a standard sized space and works very well. The price was $1000. I went home and in my mail was an ad from HD. It had the devonshire on sale for like $599. Then if you bought another bathroom fixture you got a $100 gift card. So we bought the tub and the toliet. The only concern was, what if they don't work when we are ready to install. They both work fine. firsthouse, I have to tell you the real story behind the blue tile below the tub. This bathroom is 2nd floor new construction over an existing 1st floor bathroom. When new meets old it doesn't match well. DH had trouble with the tub plumbing and had to raised the tub up 1 inch. The blue tile fit perfectly. Yes monicakm the floor is heated! We are very excited about that. One reason to look forward to winter.

Anitamo - paint is holding up quite well actually. I have the occasional nicks which I touch up from time to time. Once a month or so, I wipe everything down with clorox wipes and it looks almost new again. :D Thanks Funkycamper. Zorroslw1 - I was the most nervous about tiling the shower. black herringbone floor. you already have a lot of busy elements, but no other black. I'd also do a charcoal grout to keep it understated. you can do real black slate or do a black porcelain tile. (or a charcoal porcelain tile comes in all diff sizes I like this one For a clients bathroom, I did a dark charcoal 12x24 floor tile, and a charcoal 1x4 herringbone in the shower.

The whole addition took 18 weeks (supposed to be 10). However, much of that was due to tile supply issues. The supplier where we chose the tile stopped carrying it, so the contractor had to find a new place. And then the tile was out of stock for weeks. That really delayed the bathroom part of everything! The tub should be ready for use tonight - some caulk needed to dry for 3-ish days. And the shower should be usable Friday morning - same thing with letting the caulk dry. My favorite part is all the storage. Our old bathroom (now son's/guest bathroom) had absolutely no storage. So having that giant medicine cabinet for all my makeup and stuff is fantastic to get it off the sink. Absolutely worth every penny to have a nice big pretty bathroom. I love it!!!

Your bathroom looks beautiful.

What size are your vanities & stack of drawers?? I'm curious because I'm going to do 2-30" vanities with a 15" stack of drawers in the middle just like yours.

To answer the vanity question above, it's a single piece, 60" vanity. We could have squeezed in space for a slightly longer vanity, but doing a 72" would have been really tight and I wanted room for the trash can and hand towel! We had a 60" double vanity in our old bathroom and it worked fine - we're rarely getting ready at the same time.

I took my first soak last night after a long day of hauling Christmas decorations and furniture around and it was fabulous (once I figured out that the button I pulled operated the hand shower which sprayed everywhere and didn't close the drain). Lots of people say that the whirlpool tub is a waste, but my DH plays a lot of sports and has sore muscles, and I like a place to get away from our almost-three-year-old.

Like everyone else I love it!!! We need to remodel our only bathroom, and the colors you used is the same I want to use. Excellent choice of everything. I'm getting restless, need to get ours done, LOL!!!
