Most routers today have a setup utility to make it easier to get the router up and running. From what you describe, it sounds like you did all the right things. To access the router itself you use your internet browser and type in the routers IP address. An IP address is nothing more than a series of numbers that identify the location of a device on a network. It's something like 192.168.0.1 but it needs to be exactly right or your computer won't be able to find the router. Check the documentation that came with the router. From there you'll get a log-on screen. Depending on the brand the user name will be blank or something like admin or administrator. The default password is typically "password" or the brand of router. Again check the router's documentation. From there you'll find more settings that you can possibly use. :-)

And yes you need to follow the directions in your instruction book to change the password from what they had it set as for default, also the user name. create your password by using a combination of letters and numbers and do not use a real word use a creation of your own or use a password generator, But be sure you do not lose that info!! that is why I suggested either taping to the bottom of the router or using a label maker and sticking it down there. When you are disconnected there is no way for anyone to gain access to your pc. while checking your instructions you also might want to make sure that the firewall in the router is indeed activated.

I finally got it up and opened Hulu using it. haven't had the problems watching hulu since watching it on Chrome. it was always freezing up with Win 10. I'll check out my settings for history. I've been pretty sick since mid week after my last eye appt. I was feeling pretty good taking the meds he had me on (they evidently knocked the inflammation in my body on it's butt) - but they ran out and it's been downhill for me since then. I've ordered some herb / natural things that do the same - at least until I get into my primary doc. But, I know the meds aren't something he'll probably give me a script for. it's not something a people should be taking. can lead to even worse things - and addiction. But, I had been feeling more like the old me (pre my sick days). today I went out to do 4 errands, before I was out the driveway, I knocked that down to 3. ended up doing 2 of them. will try to do the other 2 tomorrow. and I had to write a paper list for those 4 things or I knew I wouldn't remember them. i'm weak and shaky and my back is in pain - so i'm lying down a lot. started watching this show called Bones that I like but Hulu only had 2 seasons of it. I think it ran 12 seasons, so I need to find the first 10 of them. i'm going to try using Chrome for some of the other things I do online - it seems very basic to me. I knew something about the pasting things to the taskbar but it didn't click in my mind to do that. i'm going to give it a whirl so I can toggle between them if need be. Off to paste Chrome in place and check my history setting.
