Microsoft Word 2010 help?

My friend is trying to prepare a multiple choice exam with a format like this:

Question here (choose one)

A. Apples B. Oranges
C. Melon D. Pears

Every time she goes to the next line and enters the "C,"
it reverts to....I forget what she said....I think "A." Anyway NOT "C."

We went to Word Options/Proofing/Change How Word Corrects and Formats Your Text/Auto Correct Options and unchecked everything except smart quotes, clicked ok. But the program still auto corrects the C to whatever letter she told me (sorry cannot remember).

What are we missing, is there another place to get the auto formatting turned off?

PS There should be more space between A and B and C and D, but it won't work here.

I had a terrible time with word 2010 and finally found a site that told me how to fix the problems. I opened a blank document in word, went to file, then options, then proofing and "auto correct while typing". I removed every check mark that area except for spelling and may have removed one or two in there. I could be typing and it would change things while I was typing, very annoying. That solved all of the problem I was having except for one and finally solved that one.

Thaty's what we did, but I wonder if it is a "spelling" issue. I don't have 2010 and am not with her now so I'm not sure where "spelling" is. Thanks, Emma.

I uninstalled Foxit Reader and reinstalled it according to your directions, and that worked, but do you or does anyone out there know how to make Word 2007 my default instead of Works? Hi Mike, First thank you for your reply. Yes, that's correct. Now, what makes it even more strange, is that when you sent me your reply, and I clicked on the link, as expected Firefox opened it, but when I scrolled down to answer you I had to log in again, but this time it wouldn't accept my information (User/Password)so I went back to IE and entered the site name, computer am now replying. No, the Dell tech made sure IE was default in all categories. That's what we thought originally that somehow an area had not been checked, but IE is the default. BarbB

The recent documents I have printed all are printed starting at top of page rather than where I have placed them I'm not sure what the problem is, from your description: Do you mean you placed some images and text in the middle of the page and it's floating to the top when you print? Or are you trying to print a selection from the middle of the page and it prints the whole document?

I am sorry I did not read your post very well. There is also a place where you can change the formatting to different years. I just checked, click on home, then on the far right you will see two AA with change style beneath it. The menu will give a choice such as simple, formal, 2003, 2010, etc.

I did find the spelling window and suggested to her that maybe it's a spelling issue. I also suggested a switch to another version in the Style Changes, but she really wants to learn to work with what she has got. I also suggested she create the exam in a blank email where Word won't try to "fix" things, then cut & paste into a document, but she didn't want to do that either. Stubborn!

She can ask someone at school today.

HI Socks, that's how I am about MS wanting me to make an account and a password with them to set up my PC. When I reformat I am going to disconnect my internet and see if I can set it up without going through MS or local. Grrr..........
