Why does my keyboard not work sometimes?

This has started happening recently. Upon starting my desktop Windows XP and going anywhere that requires typing, my keyboard doesn't type, even after unplugging and re-plugging in. What has worked for me though, is, with it still plugged in, do a restart and then it is fine. Anyone have a clue as to what could be going on? Thanks!

do you have another keyboard to try on it or borrow one? luckily keyboards are not very expensive.

I would say your Victa has a marginal ignition coil. It happens over here to the Lawn-Boy coils all the time. Very frustrating because sometimes they work ok. It is possible that you need a new spark plug too. In fact I would start with a new plug and go from there. I have had a mower that did the old "work sometimes and not others thing" to me over a period of a year before I finally changed the ignition coil assembly and the mower has run like new ever since. With a new ignition coil and plug you might be amazed at how much easier the mower is to start. By the way it may be that your ignition is in separate pieces as opposed to a single unit like Lawn-Boy. So check with the dealer before you get parts. You may need a pick-up coil and or an ignition coil etc. Depends how they made them.

Here in Ottawa, Canada, the smell of the pink and purple scented violets is the first "smelly" of the year. But, I have to get down on my stomach and put my whole face in the patch and inhale deeply! It is worth it, though at the time it is very cool here.

Does the outdoor unit's compressor and fan both quit at the exact same time. If so, you can probably rule out capacitors because there's usually a seperate one for the units compressor and fan. I would focus on the contactor or the pressure switches. If the comdenser's pressure is too high or too low the pressure switches will shut the unit off for protection. Maybe you have a very low or very high refrigerant charge. When the unit shuts off are you still getting the low voltage contactor relay signal? (usually Yellow) That would pretty much rule out the thermostat or air handler. If it's one year old then it should still be under warrantee. Get the company back out there to make it right.

(((((Pidget))))) I'm sorry it's hard right now. You do a spectacular job of juggling everything all the time and a set-back like this is like a kick in the teeth. Hopefully you'll come of this OK and soon be back on track. Vent all you want, I know how hard you work at keeping everything going smoothly and speedbumps stink. Good luck getting it all taken care of and I hope you love your new job! Oh, nurse? I have a boo-boo finger, what kind of band-aids do you have? I require a fun one!

I actually do have another keyboard and have tried it, and that one is doing the same thing! Maybe they both are shot? Guess it wouldn't hurt to try buying a new one...I'd just hate to waste the $$$ if a new one would do the same thing too. At least, like ravencajun said, they're not very expensive. But I am hoping also that that's all it is rather than something more involving my computer (that would be BAD!). Wish me luck!

is your keyboard one that plugs into a usb port or a round ps2 port? you might try the opposite type which ever you have. could be the port has a problem.

If it works on re-boot may not be a bad connection but try a different USB port. A loose connection could also be within the computer and checking that might be necessary. Turn it off, open it up and pull the connections, then replug. While the box is still open reboot and use it for a while but avoid touching inside while the computer is on.

If this keyboard has a USB connector try to obtain a USB to PS/2 adapter and plug it in there. Way back there were definitely problems with USB connected keyboards.

The adapter is a small green gadget and should cost a mere couple of dollars if it can be found.

im having the same trouble with my laptop somtimes my key boared just dnt work at all ive tried takeing out the battery nd restarting iit
