Thanks, DA. I love my laptop, iPad, etc, but I really depend on my HP Desktop. I think I'm on my third one over the years and I plan to go with HP again.

I have a nice Laptop, but I only use it for traveling. I am not comfortable typing on it, to awkward. I use it to watch movies and check my mail when I stay at a hotel.

Even though I have had several laptops, I still find a desktop much easier to use. I like having good speakers with sub-woofer and love my wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. All I want is a new tower since I have all the peripherals I want.

I never owned a laptop. I don't need a laptop. When I am away from home the last thing I need is a computer with me.

If it wasn't for work, and the insistence of the kids, I wouldn't even take my cellphone.

If I ever do by one it will be a "toy" purchase, and purely an entry level model. Just something to tinker with.

To DA . . . . Here I am getting a good laugh, and I wouldn't be getting it if I didn't have my laptop with me while I'm traveling. One of my friends calls the "gadget lady". :-)

I use my desktop daily, it is my main use pc, the netbook, laptop and various tablets are fun and easy to take with or sit in my recliner with but I need my desktop. I have had several HP desktops, currently my main unit is a custom built tower but I would not hesitate to get another HP. Always had good results from them.
I hope whoever gets that division does it justice.

I built a high-end gaming tower for my son many years back (and it still runs fine), but if I am going to spend any money on a new unit, it will be a laptop, and probably a Mac. He has grown out of PC-based gaming, and I have no high-end graphics requirements. I want the portability.

I looked at a Mac when I bought my last PC, but was told it wouldn't play my games. Evidently I would have to replace them with games that would play on a mac.

You keep an eye on me as I need constant vigilance. However, it is not my spelling as I am a very good speller. It's just that I am a truly mediocre typist; four fingers and a thumb. Kind of like the reporters in the old black and white movies who were pounding away on those ancient Remington or Smith manuals.

Sometimes when I am in a hurry or tired I rely too much on spell check. Tonight I am tired as a 14 1/2 hour day can eat one up. You may sleep soundly though.

That's what happens when you over-rely on spell check. If the error is an exceptd word the spell check misses it. You just keep doing a good job of watching me, and keep me in line.

I take great pride in my professional publishing ability, and I hope it shows regularly in places like this forum too. The odium my little world feels when I mis-publish is evident.

Like some of you, I was ignoring purchasing laptops for a long time until I found out the 17" screen laptop has a full size keyboard. I have long fingers and I'm more comfortable typing with a full size keyboard. Once I purchased my first 17" HP laptop, I was hooked. The 17" is a bit heavier than the usual 14"-15" screen laptop. Nevertheless, it is still portable. For those of you that are not comfortable with small keyboard, this is a great option for you to think about.

Another thing about laptop that I don't like using is its touch pad, so I use a regular mouse instead. The 17" screen is also easy on the eyes. I just love the portable ability of a notebook. I don't think I'm going back to a desktop for a long while.
