Photobucket will do it. On the upload page there is an OPTIONS that if you click on it gives you several different sizes. avatar ( 100 x 75 ) thumbnail ( 160 x 120 ) website, email ( 320 x 240 ) message board ( 640 x 480 ) 15" screen ( 800 x 600 ) 17" screen ( 1024 x 768 ) 1 megabyte file size

Bob, thanks for this time saving tip. I've used Irfanview from the very beginning, used it on the first photo I ever took...great little fixer. But, I've always resized just one photo at a time....didn't know about "batching"....gosh, what a time saver. I also use another little online "freebie" for photo editing since I don't have a program like Corel or Photoshop. Its called Photofiltre (from a French firm I believe). I downloaded from their site and it has some pretty good little features. Those are the only editing programs I have and they both do a decent job. I resize with Irfanview, save the pix, and use Photofiltre for sharpening, contrast and any other little fixes I might need to do. It has a number of filters that you can use too. I usually save my pix at 20 to 25 percent compression so as not to lose too much resolution. I almost never save a photo at more than 1600 x 1200 pixels unless I'm going to have that particular pic printed.....then I don't resize until after printing and then usually store them at less than that...usually about 800 x 600. Bob, thanks for the heads up on batching.....this is really going to save a lot of time..... ~Kathy~

This info is utterly outdated, even on GW right before it was taken over by Houzz. You can't post photos the way this thread describes anymore. Now, if the photo is on your computer you just click the photo button below the post composition area and navigate to the photo you want to upload, or you can link to a photo on Houzz. You can't like to places like photobucket anymore. ETA To clarify, you actually can link to sites like photobucket, but you will get a text link, not a photo appearing in the post.

The picture looks quite small to me as well...too small to see anything very well. Janefan...what settings/screen resolution have you set for your monitor? If you don't know and you have Windows: Right click on your screen outside of any application A menu pops up Select "Properties" (bottom of the menu) The "Display Properties" screen appears Click the "Settings" tab You will see several settings....what does it say under "Screen Resolution"? If it's "800 by x600 pixels" or around that size, then it probably does look big to you. Mine is set at 1400 by 1050 so things will look smaller to me. That may be the reason the pictures seem very large to you! The larger # of pixels allows me to see more on the screen.
