Many people on gardenweb use the Foxit PDF reader instead of the Adobe Reader. It's small, free and isn't bloated like Adobe Reader. Check it out at the link below. HTH.

But to answer your original question...Adobe 9 is just fine, I think it's a little faster than version 7. When you install 9, the application will uninstall previous versions.

you definitely want to do any updates, many right now are for some pretty serious flaws that have been found so they are security related.

Just be sure you watch for anything extra that may be checked to install like toolbars etc, you can uncheck any of those so they do not install, just get the program you want not the extras you don't want.

Unless a tool has been created or some instructions published anew about removing AR7 and AR8, they are an absolute nightmare to remove. Most users I speak to and I myself recommend it, if you are going to use Foxit Reader just set FR as the PDF default and leave AR alone. Doing so will not hurt anything or conflict.

You are right there DA I have Adobe 7.0.7 installed here but use Foxit and cannot get Adobe to uninstall it tells me to get a patch and one part tells me that it cannot be uninstalled.
