I used to work in Miami (Dade County) but I lived in the Ft. Lauderdale area (Broward) county. This is quite common. Depending on what part of Miami your husband will be working it is an easy commute. Miami is very crowded and full of zero lot line developments - not much room for goats. Any house/land with room for animals is going to be quite pricey....especially compared to Arkansas home prices. The cost of living will be dramatically higher than central AK. I am quite happy to be out of there! I would suggest going to a home website like homes.com and browsing through homes for sale and you'll get a good idea of what it is like. Now if you are looking for a diverse culture with a multitude of entertainment options and people everywhere - than you'll love Miami.

Hi Jodi, Yeah, Ledebouria, but none of the common ones....some have amazing leaves, others just odd, rare ledebouria!! I also get in Brunsvigia (mostly these are winter growers, but not all), Gethyllis (winter growers), Cyphostemma, Crinum (recently I got foetidum, acaule, delagoense, lugardiae and minimum), Massonia, Daubenya, Strumaria, etc. Most of these are from Charles Craib at Penroc Specialty Plants and they are for the most part only specimen size bulbs.....no small plants from this seller for the most part. Since there is a group of us that have spent well on the far side of a reasonable amount in the past year or so we get all the lists now and wholesale prices, but they are still big, expensive bulbs so a really limited group of people are interested in such things I realize. Tough to tell exactly what it is without a closer photo, but it isn't a venomous species. It is a juvenile of one of the "racer-like" snakes. If I would have to guess, it is a juvenile of one of the following genera: Chironius - "Sipos" Dendrophidion - "Forest Racers" Drymoluber - "Woodlands Racer" Mastigodryas - "Tropical Racers" All of those genera are harmless and I strongly suspect it is one of the species in those genera. It is not one of the Colombian coralsnakes nor is it any species of viper.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers. I had a wonderful Mother and have so many things to be thankful for. I knew that sometime in the not to distant future we would be looking at assisted living and I did not want to think about it. She passed exactly the way she wanted to. She wanted to stay in her own home, drive her car and do what she wanted and that is what she got to do. She and a neighbor (who is 85 but probably has a better memory than me) went out to eat Saturday evening. Several people have commented about visiting with them. The neighbor went over Sunday morning to have coffee. Mother didn't come to the door which was locked. She called my SIL. When my SIL got there the door was open and Mother was laying on the floor beside the bed. My SIL put her hand on Mother's back, she said she took one breath. I think the doorbell woke her, she unlocked the door and was going back to bed. I am thankful that she never had to suffer and could stay in her own home. Yes we had cruise insurance, but we had booked our own flights so I wasn't sure how that would be handled. I sent all the documents today so we will see. After talking to the agent I feel pretty good about it. I think we will be reimbursed for the cost of the cruise and the cost of the flight getting back home. The flight from Santiago, Chile to Mexico City to Dallas cost $400.00 less flying economy than the round trip flight flying first class from Oklahoma City to Santiago and the return from Buenos Aires to Oklahoma City. Also two hotel rooms and a rental car. But it doesn't matter if we can get the cost of the cruise and the return flight we will be happy. We still have the return flight on Delta on the 19th. I called and we can still use the return cost of the flight with any international flight within a year. All is well. I just wish I didn't feel so sad.
