We installed one one of these ranges in our current house within a few weeks of moving almost nine years ago. I hated the cheap coil range the previous owner had installed for sale purposes, and we were in the fortunate position of being able make room for this range by simply removing one cabinet. The range has served us well during that time, with no repairs needed, and I particularly love the smaller oven, which we use 95% of the time.

Perhaps something for an area that has lots of suitable cut and dried firewood available?

Elmira Stove Works also makes similarly old-fashioned looking stoves with radiant electric cooktops and electric convection ovens, but they are really pricey and, IIRC, 45" wide rather than 40 inches. Not what Mommycat was looking for, I suspect.

Frigidaire does indeed make the Kenmore version for Sears and, AFAK, it is pretty much the same stove.

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine looked Into getting one (a Kenmore, as I recall) to replace her vintage 1959 GE 40" range but then found that our local appliance repair service could get the parts to fix her vintage unit for a lot less than the cost of a new range. (If memory serves, she needed a new control unit for the ovens.)

I think this Frigidaire model has been around for at least a decade if not more. I recall reading some pretty positive Gardenweb discussions of both the Fridgidaire and Kenmore versions of the dual fuel and all-electric 40" ranges back around 2002 to 2004, I also recall a couple of fairly recent discusions on both vintage and new 40 inch stoves. However, I am having no luck with finding any of those old discussions. Sorry.

I enjoyed the Elmira note, but actually I do have an 1880's South Bend Malleable that I fully restored, I just can't bring it in until I make the kitchen bigger. I covered it up in several quilts and stored it in my mother-in-law's garage. If it was more accessible I would add a photo.

You might want to take a look at the new to the US AGA Total Control which is electric. ajmadison has it on their website as did Amazon. Quite pricey, though.
The AGA Legacy also features multiple ovens, but it is dual fuel. I've seen similar electric ranges on European websites, but alas, they are not available in the US.

Ha! I have a 40” Kenmore Elite that cannot be repaired. It’s the main oven that quit years ago. So now I’m redoing kitchen. New cabinets and countertops. My other appliances have all bit the dust and I’m not kidding. It’s ridiculous- almost funny. So I’m getting the message that it’s time and ok to tear out cabinets that are over 50 years old. They look good for their elderly age!

Debbie Klausing, who says it's not repairable and why? A needed part isn't available? Have you researched to confirm the situation? Used and new-old-stock parts can sometimes be found on eBay.

Years ago I had 3 different appliance people tell me part was no longer available. Now I’ve already bought a slab and going to get new cabinets. I thinks it’s time. They’re from the 60’s and my fridge, dishwasher and micro have all also quit. It’s ridiculous and I’ve been very patient.I. Researching appliances daily because I want quality but not over the top $$
