The city of Arroyo Grande (right next to me in Pismo Beach) has instituted the same program. They are now paying 50 cents per square foot. They do have people go out and visit the residents to make sure they actually have a watered lawn and then they return when it's been removed to confirm that. It's pretty simple. They almost got to the point of mandating drip systems as well but I've started doing a series of monthly seminars for them, with the public invited, and I'm dismissing the effectiveness of drip systems. They don't have a list of appropriate trees that they promote but my seminars include a LONG list of plants that are drought tolerant. This all works because these are people who have made time to come and hear this information. The City of AG is not going around being "sustainable" police. Dar, It does sound like a corrupt application after a virus attack. I have only recently started to recommend REVO Uninstaller as I have had time to use it under various conditions. In your situation, if I were attempting to remedy the concern I would download and install REVO. Then I would reboot into Safe Mode using REVO to remove American Greeting application. A fresh reinstall of AG should hopefully resolve the concern. DA

Don't clean up to much! When in doubt don't do anything. I have seen a lot of problems when cleaning up too much. Leave all those programs listed there as is. The only thing you need to do is run TFC, CCleaner, ATF. Then do a defrag. Then check out what's starting up with windows and get a hold of the unnecessary start ups. Startuplite is a good program to use for that from Malwarebytes. Once the computer is running good , flush out the System Restore points by turning system restore off and back on. Cat_ky: I think my friend's computer is about 4 years old but he has never used the JASC program. I removed it (and probably other good but unused software) just to have less programs taking up scan time. I agree that boot time is still long. Many of the programs and tweaks recommended on this forum have been applied to improve performance and progress has been made. Maybe limited RAM is now the issue? My friend is pleased as punch with the improvement. And once the computer boots, he says it "flies". The only thing I've done with the "innards" is open the case and blow out the dust and that took some courage for this amateur. I've watched videos about how to install RAM and it looks relatively simple. MAYBE some day I'll get brave and try that. Meanwhile, I'll continue to read this forum and learn.
