Best shingles for replacement roof?

I have quite a problem. We put on an additon in 1984 and the roof shingles failed in seven years. The contractor used fiberglass, no good in New England. We replaced it with BP Rampart shingles which are "organic", not fiberglass. Now they too have failed. It turns out it was a bad batch.

So yet again we must put on a new roof on this addition and it has to match the roof on the rest of the house. That roof is only five years old and it is BP Ramparts organic shingles. BUT that brand/style is almost unavailable here. All shingles seem to be fiberglass which I don't trust after the previous bad experience.

For New England, or similar conditions, what is the best type of shingle? Have they improved fiberglass? Have you had such shingles for a long time? What brand is best? Are organic shingles still available other than BP? Hope you can help--this job must be done very soon.
