Saving a thread

Hi, all. Is there an easy way to save an entire thread, such as the one "Upgrading Memory - is there a difference in brands?"? I know that we can "clip this post", but can I save the whole thread? There is so much info there for us semi-computer illiterate, and I don't want to sit here and save it all one by one.

You can bookmark it if you want to be able to return to it at will. You can also go to the file menu and save the page.

Unless you copy and paste the info somewhere, it will in time drop off of page 67 here, so your clipping or bookmark will be of no use.

Great to see some improvement! I used the same soil method and am having good results. I know some people on here are fancy with soil mixes, but a simple bag of citrus soil and extra perlite seemed easier. As far as spraying the tree, you are right to use Neem at recommended dosages. I almost want to say that you could do without the alcohol. Neem works wonders on its own. Spraying twice a month would be a bit much. You should give it a "shower" once or twice a month with plain water in the bathtub, but only spray when there is something wrong. You can spritz with water whenever you want. Your tree will love any extra humidity. In the future invest in a bottle of liquid seaweed and mix that into a spray bottle as a "treat" for Mr. Meyer. He will benefit from foliage feeding once a month. That is also a natural deterrent against sap sucking insects (at least one of my gardening books says so). I would still expect to get scale or spider mites every winter. Or both. My meyer lemons trunk is pot marked with dead knots of previous branches that totally died back. This is actually the first winter my tree hasnt died back - and im glad because I have put in a lot more effort this year. Being in a cold zone it takes a lot more ambition to keep a lemon tree happy and healthy - it would have to be something sentimental to you or it would get forgotten. Your trees new growth looks good. It will take some time, but more growth is on the way. Any older leaves that are left will probably get dropped at some point as the tree makes way for new growth to replace them. Citrus will drop their older leaves anyways to replace with new better working ones - I think any single leaf has about 1 year of working life. Do you have a temp/humidity meter? If not I would highly recommend purchasing one. For me its the easiest way to know for sure if those needs are being met. Its hard to tell how much a humidifier actually raises ambient humidity around your tree, but keep in mind that if you are getting 'shocks' in the house then it is way too dry for a lemon. Can't save threads to My Clippings.

Which I like very much. I mean, it's good to save a specific post, but if it doesn't link to the thread where it belongs... you'll have to do a search in the forum to find the thread. I just tried this and it works great; what would be a way to edit the thread, once I've saved it; copy and paste it in Word ? I'd want to return to it and edit out what I don't need and make an info document out of it, for example in conversations, there was a thread about books suggestions, I copied and pasted the thread and put it in my email drafts, then I edited out the conversations parts and only kept the book titles and authors. I guess I could copy and paste the whole thread and do that also; but your way of saving it as an archive is faster.

When you check "save" on a thread, where does it go? I thought I saved a couple threads recently but don't see them on my houzz page.

you can click on file in your browser then save page as and select a place to save the file. I have a folder I created that I store those type things in, you can create a new folder on your desktop by right clicking on the desktop select New then folder, you can name it so you know what it is.

yes if they do that here and delete or remove older threads then you would definitely want to save it in a more permanent fashion. Copy and paste all of it to a word doc like Sue suggests is a good alternative. to select everything on a thread click on edit then select all to get it all highlighted then you can copy and paste it in your word doc.

I have never seen that message where is it located? I looked at the main computer help page and did not see it??

Do you mean the message I posted above in red?
It is on the first page of every forum, under the What's New on GardenWeb: banner. A lot of folks collapse the messages, so they don't load each and every time they come to the forum.

Thanks all for answering. Good idea. I will do as you suggest & make a folder on my desktop. I hadn't thought about them deleting the messages/threads. Thanks

oh I am one that collapse that area so I had never seen that, now that you told me I do indeed see it there when expanded. It sounds like something happened on some of the forums and they lost some pages or they are not displaying. Looks like all of the old ones still show up here.

ravencajun - two of the big "conversation" forums lost all their pages. The Kitchen Table, and The Garden Party both when *poof* over the weekend. I think there may have been a few others also.

I copy and paste into a Word Doc too and file under "Computer Helps" on my hard drive

I have, on occason, a few where I did the copy/paste routine and mailed it to myself and let Yahoo file and store it for me.

Before I save something I edit it quite severely and put important keywords in the subject lines.
