need a new range, not ge!!

I've had it! 10 years ago I got a GE profile range that seemed to be a GREAT range. Shortly after getting it, it was thanksgiving and I put some water in the roasting pan to prevent grease from burning on the bare metal. The water created steam which shorted out the control panel, turning off the oven for a day or two. The board has been replace -- under warranty -- twice but it NEVER fails to short out when steam comes from the oven. It seems it is directly vented for maximum control panel shorting.

So with Thanksgiving coming up I am looking for a new range that is NOT GE, I give up.

I'm willing to spend up to $2800. I need SS to match the rest of the appliances. I've CONSIDERED induction but have caliphon pans so it would mean new cookware.

What do you suggest.

P.S. I want/need a bridge burner for my cast iron griddle!

I don't know where you live but a guy in Minneapolis has a slightly used Capital Culinarian on Craigslist for $2250. He mentions the rotisserie in the description, but I don't see any lights next to the oven knob, so I think it's a manul clean without the rotisserie. Still a great deal though.

unless you go used then for under $2800 you are probably looking at a Bertazzoni (around $2400ish I think) or an NXR ($1999 or less)
If you live in Canada and have a Costco card I believe you can get Blue Star for under your price range.

Personally I would go for the NXR and as for your Griddle instead of the probably sorta small cast iron Id get a Steel griddle which are way larger and once seasoned totally nonstick just like cast iron.

here is the difference between the usual Lodge Cast Iron which is actually made for a Coleman 2 Burner camp stove Vs a nice Steel Griddle made for a Gas Stove.

I'm going tomake a wild guess that it is the same as the radiant version of the same size except for the induction top. This should give a good clue as to the oven size and functionality.

GE's new 2011 Induction Range model PHB925STSS

Even though its not listed on the GE Appliance site yet, I've seen other sites now listing a new 2011 GE Induction Free-Standing Range model PHB925STSS, which replaces the older model PHB925SPSS from 2009. I'm not sure of all the differences between the two models, but the Quick Specs PDF for the new PHB925STSS lists it to have heavy-duty roller racks and black gloss interior. But it doesn't mention if the oven racks are enamel coated and safe for use with the self cleaning oven like the older PHB925SPSS model. The rest of oven and induction features seem the same. Oh and that is one of the best things I like about the NXR and really most all of the pro style stoves is they do not have any Electrical Panels to get messed up with steam/heat/water or whatever.
Pretty ignorant idea really to put those dang electronic panels on a stove where you are boiling water right next to it, really makes no sense.

You can get the Bluestar RCS 30" in the US for less than $2800. Abt has them for about $2800, and I was quoted $2550 from my local dealer.
