If McAfee causes a slow down get rid of it and install a free anti virus such as avast,or avg, others can link you to them.

uninstalling McAfee will require a special un-install tool that will make sure all McAfee files are gone we can link you to that also let us know.

My opinion get rid of of Mcafee first then see how the e-mail function is. Work on 1 thing at a time..

I've been frustrated by Yahoo mail all week also.
I have XP and use Firefox, I thought it may be FF
I emptied the Trash Folder and deleted about 75-100 old
e mails. This resulted in a tad bit of improvement.
I'd considered uninstalling and reinstalling FF.

Here is the link for the removal of McAfee. Make sure you have decided what anti virus you going to use, I would do a google search for avg free. and or avast anti virus to familiarize yourself with them.

On some computers big Anti virus programs such as McAfee and norton can cause problems.

I would also lean towards (avast Anti virus) avg has had some issues with the free version and seems to becomming a little bit bulky.

Yahoo speeded up last night and I think Yahoo have been doing some of their work in the background and perhaps as I live in the UK it would be off peak in America and their best time to do the work. Today it's running normal.

As for McAfee well it often slows things down when it's backing up. I think I will take your advice and change to someone else. I often considered it but didn't know who to go for and I worry about online security and that's why I stayed with them. I pay approx £50 a year for McAfee and that's a lot for me.

I have McAfee on one of my xp boxes because it is free with my verizon but I am in the process of changing to one of the free ones too just because I need to thin down that machine and McAfee is too large.
I am going with Avast this time, the new AVG 8 has had a lot of issues so want to wait on that one till they get it all worked out.
Avast is a very good program and many people moved to it that left AVG.
If you go to the Avast link for download you can look over on the left they have 2 very good informative pdf manuals that give detailed install and use directions.

If your McAfee has a firewall, and you remove it, remember you must also install a new firewall program also. The free AVG and Avast antivirus applications do not include a firewall.

There are several free firewall programs, all of which are good. I personally use the free Zone Alarm.

Hi, I've finally got around to removing McAfee and have downloaded the free Avast. However from this link Zep516 recommended I run "McAfee Removal Tool" but I've tried and tried to click on the link to remove it. Every time McAfee stops me from clicking on it by bringing up one of their drop down pages. Does anyone know of a direct link to this site please?
