Microsoft Word margin problems

Hi..I have typed my resume in Microsoft Word. Viewing it on Word, it looks perfectly aligned. The problem is how it looks in my email. I emailed my resume to myself first to be sure it was going to be ok. Of course, it wasn't....there are 2 lines that go all the way to the end of the right hand side of the page in the emailed resume (I have seen it worse than this). Is this how it is going to look when the employer receives it? I do not know how to correct this.

The formatting may change if you are copying/pasting the text of the Word document into an e-mail.

The formatting (theoretically) should not change if you send the Word file as an attachment.

Best procedure is convert/save the Word document as a .pdf and send that as an attachment.

Looking at the drop down box under "Save as type", I don't see .pdf. Is that where I am supposed to be looking? I see XML document, single file webpage, webpage, webpage, filtered, and document template.

Thank You zep516! I uninstalled Foxit Reader and reinstalled it according to your directions, and that worked, but do you or does anyone out there know how to make Word 2007 my default instead of Works? MS Office 2000 (which includes Word) works perfectly with XP. Since the behaviour occurs on the new computer as well as your original one I did a Google search and found numerous reports of this problem. Could it be that Word is trying to connect to your network? Had the problem only existed on your own computer then my first suggestion would have been: Assuming that you have the Word installation CD available (just in case it is needed), then I would start by opening Word, click on Help and then click Detect and Repair from the drop down menu. Don't go this route if the CD isn't handy otherwise Word might stop working completely until you find it. Here is a link that might be useful: Some Google links to solve Word problems

Some MS Office Home and Student versions allow you to install them on more than one computer. Others do not. If you have a version that has already been installed on the allowed number of computers you cannot install it on another. Word 2010 isn't that different from 2007. You should get used to it pretty soon. I use both on different computers along with word 97 on another with no problem. Any particular feature of word 2010 you don't like?

I have also read that but can't confirm it from malwarebytes, why not join an ask the question there. That file winword.exe is running from the programs file folder where it should be, so everything is pointing to a false positive. In the link below is Virus Total site go to the site, look for the browse function there, what you do is browse to the file winword.exe on your computer if it's still there and up - load the file to that site and see what the results are... It will be scanned by several virus tools and create a log for you. Are you sure you updated malwarebytes before you ran it. So lets see what malwarebytes says, and virus total, then if needed we can send you to another forum.

I am not copying and pasting. I am clicking on "file", then "send to" on Microsoft Word where my resume is.

What version of MS Office are you using?

You should do as Dadoes suggests and attach you resume either as a PDF or a .docx file with the email being the cover letter. That way you are assured it stays just as you set it up.

I am positive that back in Office 2003 I could click to send a .doc file as an email with no issues. But now with Office 2007 the option is not available and it must be attached as .docx - .pdf or .xls.

If you get thoroughly fed up, try this. Various editions of Word have a problem with carriage returns, so to speak, and both Outlook and webmail. Open your document, hit ctrl-H, and replace paragraph marks (^p) with line returns (^l). Now send it to yourself and see if it fixes the formatting. This is not an OS problem, it's Word's.

I do agree, however, that a resume is a document in itself and should be sent as a formatted attachment.

Ok....I sent it as an attachment to myself, and it came up aligned. Thank you all for your help!!
