T8100 core duo processor (2 GHz) or 5400rpm - effect on speed

I couldn't find a good way to title this post. I'm about to buy a laptop and want fast (no gaming - just internet, maybe digital media, word processing - run more than one program at a time).

I'm picking and choosing feature and dont know which has a bigger effect on speed.

I'm getting an XP thinkpad x61. I can get core 2 duo t8100 (2ghz) - with 160gb 7200rpm hard drive. Or t8300 (2.4 ghz), maybe only 54rpm HD. I'll also get 3 or 4 GB RAM. So if I must pick and choose, which effects speed of function more - difference between T8100 and T8300 processor, 2 vs. 2.2 vs. 2.4 ghz processor speed, hard drive speed of 5400 rpm vs. 7200 rpm - any difference between 3 and 4 GB RAM.

I think all the above effect speed but I don't know which are more important if i can't afford to maximize them all.

Thank you.

Lynn.
