Great Resource for Volunteers

Unfortunately, a mom of my DD's 10 yr old classmate has been diagnosed with breast cancer & will be undergoing major surgery next week.

I got an email this morning organizing meals for the family over the next month and they were using a free website called 'Volunteerspot'. What a wonderful site! It was started by a mom to help organize all kinds of volunteer activities (PTA, Girl Scouts, Church functions, etc.) I have NO affiliation with this website but I have to say it made it sooo easy to sign up and have one central place for information. Wish we knew about this last year when another mom was hospitalized suddenly and passed away. It would have made coordination of help so much easier!

Again, I have no affiliation, just thought I'd pass along...

I'm always astonished on how few people use GardenWeb. I wandered into the beekeeping forum and found it interesting. The following day I went to a garden market (one of those once a week things) and a local beekeeper said he'd never even heard of GardenWeb. Got to get my GW tee shirt out and start advertising this wonderful site.

Try typing this in: http://www.tomato and then type this part right after it ville.com/showthread.php?t=21 (It's just that GW doesn't like putting the word "ville" right after the word "tomato", so it flags it and won't let me post it.) I just moved to Southwestern NC. According to this soil map I got almost 93% sand. Hmm I got to add lots of organic matter to improve moisture retention. My options are pine needles and fall leaves. I might also add peat moss and pine bark mulch, if I can find them locally. Those are much better than sand. I want to know how do you deal with such a high sandy condition. ? Sey
